Default Question.... Help?

Hey guys, i'm swapping another EJ22 into my car. and the motor i got is from a 97' impreza. the heads are completely different. my intake manifold doesn't fit, mine is wider, and it's dual port exhaust, and my motor is single port... so what i'm asking is, are the heads from my 99-00 2.2 compatible on the 97 2.2? as long as the block is the same the heads should fit right? or am i going to run into problems if i swap them?

i would think it should fit. but then you have to think about whats going to be easier. getting a new exhaust and intake mani or changing the heads out.

unless your budget is too tight. then you really dont have any choice. start swapping heads out in that case.

Did the new motor not come with manifolds?

you could get elbows deep in grease just to find out that it doesnt swap and then your engine is all torn apart. idk man. thats a hard one.

have you asked on rs25 yet.

You could swap the heads but then you're looking at all new timing belt accessories/HG; best cheapest bet is to get the new phase header/intake manifold then run those(check a junk yard). I'm not certain which sensors are different on the 2.2L ph1/2.

i'm giving up... i'm going to just buy one from metric motors. drop it right in and be done. this is too confusing/suck for me, especially when i don't have a lot of tools, or knowledge... it'll end up costing me just as much to buy one from metric as it would to build this one, when this one has been sitting for a year, had almonds inside the coolant chambers, and the heads are different... so... yeah. anyway, this thread can go away now.

Just bolt up everything to the new short block, heads, manifold sensors everything will be the same just a different short block.

This is exactly what i have in my legacy wagon, not kind of sorta close but 100% exactly what i ended up doing when my motor gave up. Best 50$ ever .

the problem is i don't really know what i'm doing. it's worth it to me to get one now with low miles, that i can just drop right into my car. i know what i'm doing there... once i get into pulling the engine apart... i'm just guessing i'm doing things right.
