Default Installing cruise control in 02 impreza TS

I'm hoping someone here is able to answer some questions for me. I have done lots of searching but haven't been able to find answers to all my questions.

From what i understand, all 02 impreza TS do not come with cruise control from the factory, however they have been pre-wired and just require the parts. Is there a difference in the cruise control modules for a standard or an automatic? Would i be able to use a cc module from a standard in an automatic or would it cause problems. I have tried most of the subaru parts websites and have been told that the subaru made kits have been discontinued.

If anyone has done this mod before and can help me out or offer some advice or know where to get an installation guide it would be much appreciated. Thanks

I hate to bump an old thread, but I am in the same situation. I love cruise control and I came upon a good deal on a really clean wagon. Any info on this would be great. especially if someone can confirm about the pre-wiring !!

Hey, thanks for bumping my thread. I was never able to track down anyone who could confirm if this install was possible and how much work is involved. I have been slowly tracking down the necessary parts and waiting until school is over before i try to figure this out.

If you're able to find any info about this or if anyone has done this install your information/advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

from what i understood cruise control was an option and is not pre-wired. you need to do a swap from an RS to get it to work; wiring and all.

oh dear... and i'm assuming the cruise wiring isnt a seperate harness, its probably all mixed into the other under-dash wiring? that sucks.

i guess i'll price out aftermarket kits lol

Hijacking this thread a bit... I'm about to install cruise control in my 2002 TS. Here are the parts I have:

Steering wheel stalk
Motor with cable and mounting bracket
Cruise computer
Dash switch

I have a couple of questions:

Can someone provide me a photo of their GD engine bay with cruise control? I know the motor mounts on the passenger side but I'm wondering how to attach the cable to the throttle.

Where is the plug for the cruise cpu? Is it near the fuse box along with the keyless entry module etc? Not sure where this black box goes.

For the steering column stalk, I know I need to unplug my battery for a while before working on the steering wheel. The rest looks straight forward (cut a small hole, insert stalk, bolt and plug). Is there anything else I need to know?

Thanks for your help... hopefully I can do this myself and save the 280$ that my local dealer quoted me for the install (!)
