Angry HID low beam kit works but Fog Lights DO NOT?

Just installed a hid kit on a 03 wrx: single beam 6k and turned off the daytime running lights.

Nosw when I turn on the fog lights the high beam indicator goes on which shouldnt happen bc i got no high beams..plus when the high beam went on on the stock lighting the fogs would atomatically turn off...and the fog light button indicator lights up very dim....

also i turn of the fogs and try to turn them on they wont always turn back on..UNLESS i turn the lights off totally and turn them back on...

i think i need a restitor wire or something bc the computor thinks the high beams are on when I actually on have single beam HID KIT?

HELP PLEASE????????????

on the stock wiring, the fogs will be off when you hit the high beams.. there may be something funky in the wiring of your hids.. what kind of headlights are you running btw??

When I had a 9007 "plug and play" hid system my fogs would do the same thing. What worked for me was to push the fog light button slowly....very slowly and they would always turn on. The high beam indicator would still light up, but thats just the way it was. Now that I have a Hella D2S Hid system with my Uk300 lights, it doesn't do that anymore. Rick

den yuz getz yo sum edamacaton and put the 9007 halogen's back in.

the fogs are wired to only come on with the lows and turn off with the highs. you don't have anything on the highs so it's confusing that relay.

Any other info on this topic?

I have sort of the same problem. I bought a 9007 Bi-Xenon kit from ebay; plug-n-play. Everything went according to plan; a very painless and easy install, maybe 30 mins tops? Anyways, when I got in the car, everything worked liked it should. The low-beams would come on when supposed to, and when I turned on the high-beams using the stalk, all was well.

However.

When I was on the low-beam setting and pushed in the foglight buttom, the high-beams would come on along with the fog lights and the high-beam indicator on the cluster would dimly illuminate. Everything would reverse and go back to normal when I would turn the fogs back off.

It's absolutely driving me crazy. I love the fog's on Subarus and I would hate to not have them work like how they're supposed to. I have disabled BOTH DRL locations (under the hood and behind glovebox). The car is an 2002 WRX.

if you have a proper relay harness, it won't happen.

take it out before this happens:

Now by relays you mean...

Sorry, I'm a real n00b when it comes to wiring/electrical.

Honestly, this is serious.

HIDs pull a ton of volts and current on startup, so everytime you light up the wiring gets strained, and bad. it can start fires and it can permanently damage the very expensive stock harness beyond repair.

take out the kit, put in halogens, and talk to someone who knows how to make a relay harness.

in fact, read the whole HID faq. the bugeye lights don't respond well to hids at all, even with a relay. get a retrofit or stick to halogen!

When I installed my Morettes with halogen bulbs I fabbed my own wiring harness with relays to run them. I had the same problems with my fogs you described. I had to perform the fog light mod that allows the fogs to be turned on with only the parklights being used, and allows them to stay on when in high beam.
