I have 10 years driving and 43% road star if you need to know.

I jsut dont feel like paying ICBC $2400 this year.

Oh oh, me too.. I want to look into 3rd party car insurance too. I should've done some research on how much insurance costs for my car before I bought it, but wow it's expensive!!!!

Anybody have experience dealing with TD insurance?

I heard claims through 3rd party coverage is a pain in the butt. Any validity in this?

yeah, but what kind of coverage are you two running ? just the basics .. or do you opt for underinsured coverage, theft, fire, etc etc. what kind of deductable ? liabily amount ?

The factors are endless.. just saying I pay X amount for my insurance is a pretty useless fact

I'm at full 43% discount and the insurance for my '10 WRX is $2100. Apparently the WRX is in one of the higher rate classes for some reason.
I do the $300 collision deductible and $2 mil liability, but everything else is lowest options.

I saved a hundred or so over ICBC by going third party.

And it's just a matter of going to their websites/calling and getting a quote.

Yes, CDI is Canadian Direct.

Also, for all you guys with your comprehensive through ICBC - the max discount on that is 54%. It's basic with the max of 43%

all of you have cheap insurance. except for scooby-king... that blows...

i just renewed mine with icbc. being under 25 leaves no 3rd party insurance for me.

I just took collision off my car due to the staggering amount of money they would charge me if i were to actually use it.

mine is (all though icbc) with 30% discount puts me just under 1500/year. 2 mil liability and all the fancy shamcy comprehensive, windshield, under-insured, etc etc just no collision. Collision with a 500 deductible cost 410 bucks.

this is a 'stock' 99 impreza TS (4dr) silver, m/t. i am 22y/o and within 15km to work...

most expensive stickers ever...

Now I know whose car I can jump in front of when I need some extra $$$

I don't have the paper in my hand, but roughly $1650 for $2M, $500 collision, $300 Comp, roadstar package, and a quite a bit of etc, etc, blah blah for pleasure use for my 2009 2.5i sedan. @43% from ICBC...

Would it go lower somewhere?

I've only used 3rd party for replacement cost and after one try, it wasn't worth it. Even to save $100 I think it won't be worth it for me to deal with an extra party if something did happen.

05 STi comes out to $1900 for what iiclips has for coverage. Work usage. Don't forget to make sure you have your 10 year driving and immobilizer discounts.

at home now looking at my renew reminder.

I only have the basic for now. $945 + 1 mill.

I been buying basic my entire life. never had a accident at fault. (knock on wood)

But im driving to Kelowna this winter, and i want some extra insurance for the drive.

I just want some comprehensive and collision for the winter.

Looks like ill just buy it from ICBC. doesnt look like its worth the trouble for a few dollars.

You have to keep in mind that some privet companies have 200 comprehensive and 300 collision at no extra charge. also if you are at 43% discount you can also get a extra free crash for free.

i used to be with Family for 5yrs. and saved about $300 over ICBC but ppl. keep telling me that 3rd party is a pain to deal with if i do use them so really up to you ooh ya family gives you 2mil. if you buy one mil. from them if you are road star and also free roadside so pretty good deal if you just want to save money

Let's throw another thought into the mix. I'm now looking into Fleet insurance. With fleet insurance you can get up to 63% savings. The only catch is you must have 5 vehicles licensed drivers must have the 10 years bla bla bla. Trailers and Utility trailers count as a vehicle. For me to make this happen I just need to stop paying storage insurance on my 1973 240Z and insurare it, then I have my 5.

Well, I sure won't be upgrading to wrx if I move to Vancouver!

Anyone have a rough estimate of insurance costs on say, the island outside Victoria? Mostly out of curiosity...

"All vehicles must be insured for commercial or business purposes only"

just something to think about if anyone was considering this.
