Default Bugeye Retrofit Problem: Hi-beams do not work

Ive searched around a bit and see multiple threads with similar problems but have yet to find an absolute right fix to this problem

Infinity FX35 Bi Xenon Projectors
Morimoto Ballasts
Pn'P Harness

all bought from the retrofitsource.com

I wired up the harness and hooked up the lights correctly. When i turn on the headlights (low beams), my highbeam indicator turns on on my gauge cluster. The highbeams are not engaged at all.

Then when i turn the high beams on, nothing happens, and the high beam indicator stay lit on my cluster.

I have disconnected the DRL module under the glove box, and everything off the ground is hooked up to their correct plugs.

My foglights are also disconnected. I have the jdm fog covers, so my fogs are removed and the connection for them is simply unplugged.

All fuses seem to be fine and are not blown.

Anyone know why the wiring is screwed up this way? I want full function of these lights and cant seem to find a concrete reason why the high beams will not engage (although they say they are)

I recently made a wiring harness from the diagram shown in this thread.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1482552 I have found that,at best most PNP harnesses will reverse the high and low beams or not engage the highs at all like you describe. I would just make the harness as shown and enjoy. It looks a little complicated at first and if you do make one of your own double check your connections. The one I made has been working fine since I installed it a few months ago on my friend's bugeye. Hope this helped.

On these bi xenon projectors, Is the high beam motor supposed to be placed on the bottom side of the light (facing down) or the top of the light (facing up)?

I have used the replica FX35s from the retrofit source so I can only guess that they are the same. Mine were on the bottom. You should be able to tell pretty easy buy firing up the low beam. if the pattern is oriented correctly then its right. and actually the thing that moves the cutoff shield for the high beam is an electro magnet.

Subaru uses a switched-ground system to turn the headlights on and off. Thus before your conversion, there were three wires to the headlamp plug (each side) which consisted of one power feed and two ground leads.

In addition, the DRL module being unplugged (from behind the glove-box) will not have any effect on this.

My feeling is that the HID harness you purchased is not for a switched-grounded vehicle.

I will presume that the OEM power feed is hooked into the HID lowbeam power feed and that the existing two OEM grounds are hooked into the HID common ground and the highbeam power feed. Based on this assumption, this will cause the highbeams to not work and to allow a certain amount of ground feedback to flow through the system causing the highbeam indicator to illuminate on the dash.
