Default PIAA vs. Hella lighting

Will a 5" driving light fit into the USDM stock fog bezel?

I'm wanting to upgrade the (now) fogs on my '02 WRX, but I'm torn between PIAA and Hella. I do about 2 hours of driving every day in the dark, and would really like more light, but I'm not ready to commit to a light bar yet.

If I went with Hellas, it would be their Rallye 4000 model with the "Eurobeam" pattern (or maybe the "cornering" beam).

If I go with the PIAAs, it would be the 540 series with the driving beam.

Hella FF500's will fit. Get them with the clear driving lenses, a set of amber bulbs, and a pair of the clear stone-guard covers and you're all set.

I like both Hella and PIAA, but PIAA's are usually very expensive, both initially and if you need replacement parts.

I've got four hella 500ff on a light bar on the front of the car, and two piaa 540 fogs in JDM fog bezels. I can tell you that the output on the piaa is much better than the hella 500ff (can't speak for the rallye 4000, though). The piaas are brighter and have a more even spread and a sharper cut off. Plus the lamp itself is just constructed better. The piaas are made of metal, where the hellas are made of cheap plastic. Hellas will get the job done, but if you can afford piaas, go with them.

I think I'm pretty settled on the PIAA 540s, they come ou cheaper than the Hella rallye 4000s after you buy two R4000s, the harness, and stone guards...

They should fit in my USDM housings with the kartboy brackets, right?

Does any know, between the Rallye 4000 Halogens and the PIAA 540s, which are brighter?

I had a set of Hella rallye 4000's on my old cherokee (that I am considering mounting on my 05 wrx) and I loved them. They were the euro beam and had great coverage and distance. The only drawback is the size. The housings are aluminum and they can be aimed without the use of tools. My father has had two sets of PIAAs that have rusted pretty bad..Not to fault the performance of the light itself though..that was pretty good. I ran 55w halogens in them and were excellent, however, with how inexpensive HID's are, I would love to see some 3500-4000k bulbs in them!!! If I do it I will post it!!
