Default 2.5RS Grill Question

I went and looked at a 2.5rs the other day and it looks pretty nice BUT the cluster has been replaced because the old one went out around 80k miles or so. Also the front grill is zip tied on the top. I am considering bringing 2 more zip ties and cutting his off to look behind it, but I dont want to look like a jerk. Just concerned. Vehicle has a clean title as well. How does the front grill fasten onto the radiator support? is it a screw in clip that is just plastic?

That just doesn't sound good. Unless it is really cheap I would stay away from it. What city/dealer is it at?

well I have taken mine out a few times, the grill just snaps in with some plastic clips, he may not have taken it out right or done it so many times that it's worn out now. but I would bring the 2 zip ties and ask him if he minds if you look behind it, ask him what happen and then look behind, see if he's honest and telling you the truth type of thing. I wouldn't let it deter you from possibly buying it though. I would just ask and if he doesn't like that you are wanting to look behind it then he's probably hiding something.

He seems like a normal honest guy. Selling the car for his brother who moved to Seattle. says the car had the zip ties when his brother bought it. Also says the cluster just stopped working so they put the new one in. I am guessing the grill issue has to do with the clips breaking and not necessarily front end damage. But maybe.

haha oopppss didn't know it was a 98 2.5rs, but I would assume they probably mounted the grills almost the same way with the plastic clips, it looks like a pretty nice car though, needs a little tlc, but looks good.

#1: Run a carfax.

#2: Ask him if you can take the car to a mechanic and have it looked over. He can come along if he wants.

Those two things will cost maybe $100 combined, but could save you thousands down the road if you decide to purchase.

My concern is that with the cluster replaced there is no way of knowing the actual mileage.

Lol, this made me giggle. The broken tabs on the RS grill is not uncommon for someone that takes it off frequently and improperly.

Fyi, Ontop of the plastic clips you push down with a flat-head screwdriver then it comes right out.
