Default EDM vs. JDM Bugeye Headlights.

Got a question for you guys.
Just sold my STi and going back into a Bugeye wagon.
First thing I wanna do is swap out the stock headlights for either the JDM or EDM. I want HID, but done correctly and safely.
Out of the two options (read them before answering), which is better and why:
EDM with HID conversion. (if this option, what HID kit should I go with)
or
JDM with LHD cutoff.

Assume I'm doing all the work here, so I either have to track down a LHD cutoff and bake with the JDM, or install an expensive HID kit in an already expensive set of EDM lights.

What are your thoughts? I have little to no experience with headlights.

i don't remember if edms have hid projectors, i think they're halogen projectors.. if you wanted to just slap those lights on as they are, i think that'd be fine and much less of a hassle

jdms though, i think there's one version that uses hid projectors.. you can save those hids if you get a set that comes with them but swap the projectors to lhd and it'd be kosher

None of the EDM lights came with HID.

If you get the EDM lights and want proper HID optics, you will have do a retrofit with tsx or s2000 projectors. If you get a set of JDM HID lights, the easiest way to convert it to LHD is to buy a new cutoff plate. That will require baking and opening the light, unbolting the projector, and then unbolting the cutoff plate. The ebay ballasts and D2S bulb kits are tempting due to their cost, but I'd stick with OEM.

I would just like to say the light output of the jdm halogen lights w/ rebased h1 hid kit is pretty crappy, and I'm not even talking about the rhd lighting. The lights look cool but useable light is horrid.

afterawhile I got sick of it, having such pretty lights that don't do anything when driving highspeeds or in the mountains so I did the tsx projector swap....and now

light output 100 times better. wide, clear, even, oem looking lights.

love them, one of my favorite mods. Makes for safer driving also.

edm with hid as I understand have holes where you wont have light. Or it's a lot less light because the projector was designed for halogen bulbs. hid bulbs are longer and have a different shape. It might fit with a conversion but not provide very good lighting.

Jdm hid is nice. Yet it's not nearly as bright as other cars. Yet it's ok. The cut off is needed otherwise you will blind the guy in front of you on the drivers side. There is a write up of this on scooby mods.

Personal choice. Swap the projectors and get tsx projectors. I did this on the jdm hid. It's not nearly as hard as it sounds. It might take 4hrs per headlight. You can have it done but it's pricey. You can spend $800 I think to have it done. I spent $120 on the projectors and some dremal work. I also have the leveling harness. Still working to finish mine only because of time to work on the inner clip on the passenger side. Since the plastic is softer then usdm headlights. Also the lens are the same in case you need to know.

Hope that helps

If you get JDM HIDs this is the easiest way to make it LHD. The shields are bolt on. If I had known these were available before my TSX retrofit, I would chose these due to simplicity.
