Lol Zeal, I'm in the same situation. Just started college I just picked out the first impreza hatch I saw. Plus insurance would have killed me if I had a WRX, or even when they were made, a GT.

don't know if metioned yet but pulleys are prettt cheap. Perrin for the main pulley, then just get an alternator pulley and i think they have one for the power steering. Pretty much just go to perrin performance website. they have great suspension parts there.

Leave it alone. Not worth voiding your warranty on a brand new 2.5i.

Maybe some window tint and a new set of wheels if you have money burning a hole in your pocket.

Short throw shifter and sways are totally worth it. Dubious on the dual exhaust and intake though. Not sure you'll get much bang for the amount of bucks that you will spend.

Wrong. You're not voiding anything. The dealer can *deny* a warranty claim if they see that an aftermarket part had contributed or was the cause of the failure. Anything else is covered under the warranty like normal.

I have a 2008 Impreza 2.5i and I recently took off my muffler just to see how it sounds. It was fairly easy because I just had to remove the bolts and the hangers, which aren't bolted in anywhere. You definitely do get more sound out of it but in my opinion the sound of the car isn't really that loud compared to other turbo models and I kind of like it. I want to know if there would be any engine problems down the road for me if I decide to keep the muffler off until I get enough money to get myself a performance exhaust.

Can anyone help me out?

Zeal, Just leave the car alone and save your money for the future WRX or STI. You'll be more happy in the long run.

for your original question considering you are a new college student. do not make it resemble a civic plz, pay it off asap and keep it forever as a daily driver and save for the "fun car" after college, or get rid of it asap, piss off your parents that probably made the down payment, and get something used and reliable.

or do whatever you would like, all forums have more opinions than people.

I believe that 2.5i and WRX have a similar enough suspension that 08+ coilovers will fit 08+ 2.5i's. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

To the people looking for catbacks, Borla makes one directly for the 08+ hatch. The link is http://borla.com/products/product_de...rod_sku=140325

If you have the sedan Avo makes a catback as do numerous other people.
I just put a Tsudo WRX catback on (it fit right up) because it was a much cheaper option. It's super loud and a little rice, but I'm fine with that for now haha. I knew there would be a power loss low end, and there definitely is, but 4k+ rpms there's a gain -- and I can also ride out each gear about 10 to 15 mph higher.

For suspension parts, search on the WRX. The only non-compatible part in the WRX suspension system is the front sway bar. Everything else (rear sway, coils, struts, etc) will bolt right up.

You will have better luck searching for WRX parts and then checking compatibility. Suspension, brakes, and most of the car will be mostly the same. Engine is different, obviously, and some few parts here and there, like the front sway bar and the lower chassis bare, will not work on the 2.5i.

Oh, sure, you can do it, but my point is that it is not bolt-up, and finding just the right amount to "flatten" your exhaust piping, or changing it so that it hangs low enough to give you clearance for the bar, is not everyone's cup of tea.

You might also want to look into some JDM interior pieces, some of those are really nice and add a finished custom look with out being ricey.
Could you please elaborate on this? where to get them and any videos on how to install?

Probably whatever a couple of hours labor cost. Just call the service dpeartments of a few delaers and ask. It's liable to vary a bit.

Install which? The bushings or the interior pieces?

I'd look on YouTube, Rallitek, and KartBoy websites for bushing install videos. You may also find some good write-ups w3ith photos if you do some searching on NASICO and 3gwrx.com.

I just got quoted $401 for parts and install of the short shifter and shift bushing. Quote was from the internet salesman I bought the car from, which is much better than if I just called the parts/service department.
