Default Power goals, quick qustion.

Quick question about my power goals and if they are reasonable.

I want to have between 300 and 350 whp be my goal for now. I would like to know from experience and others if my goals are reasonable and what else I might be missing to achieve these goals, or close to them.

Here is my car list:

I have a 99 GC8, gutted down to 2600 lbs or around there.
(My math was based on OEM spec weight, and I used a scale to weigh everything I took out, or put in).

2002 WRX 2.0l motor
STi Pinks
High performance silicone turbo inlet/outlet/TB etc...(barely any flex)
EBAY big TMIC 4" core (Also ported both inlet/outlet)
PnP ram intake (with fresh air directed via front bumper ducting)
PnP td04 turbo
PnP Aluminum Y-pipe
PnP throttle body
PnP intake manifold
PnP TGV's (deleted & welded rod holes)
PnP wrx headers/crosspipe
PnP ebay strait up-pip, no flex
PnP 3" bellmouth downpipe
3" exhaust all the way down, no cat's
AgencyPower lightweight crank pully
ACT prolite 9 lbs flywheel
Custom 3 puck copper/ceramic unsprung clutch
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Grimmspeed EBS 3-port
Grimmspeed thermostat
Greddy XS BOV (OEM one was causing issues)
21 lbs wheels (heavy i know)

Thats about it regarding motor mods, my intake is heat wrapped to stay cool. I havent been tuned yet and boost catches on very quick. Early spool was my goal, for Gymkhana and AutoX purposes, I can feel boost pulling hard at 2300 rpm and dies off around 4000, then boost kicks in again even higher at 7000 rpm.

I realize being untuned has a lot to do with this. But what kinda power am I looking at with a good tune? I use 93 oct here.

Also, I plan to get a Grimmspeed "flexed" up-pipe and td05-20g. I will probabily go EWG but I've researched in only add's 6 or so HP, but it will hold the boost better/longer, but for now I'm asking about numbers, not powerbands.

If I do the 20g will my goal of 300-350 be reachable? I'm hoping to reach 20psi.

Any and all info would be appreciated.

Thats sounds about right on the WHP goal but you may want to think about upgrading to a stage 1 2.5 litter block and some PPG gears.

its all a matter of flow....you've got all that PnP stuff, but your restrictions will be the 2.0L heads.

the 20G is fine for making that WHP, but IMO you'll have trouble getting there on the 2.0L heads (well....300 yes, 350 will be a stretch)...get those PNP, get a 3-angle valve job, maybe even +1mm valves, and you'll be doing much better. (this is similar to what I had on my hybrid built engine with a td-05 20G). I was making 325 all the way to redline on only 17psi....BUT, this was with a 2.5L as well.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I'm not planning on staying with the td04-13g. I'm basically asking that if I slap on a td05-20g and tune will I reach my power goals? Or do I need more hardware?

I'd love to go hybrid with a 2.5l block and wrx heads but I don't have the monies at the moment for that. So will a 20g and tune be enough to get me to 300hp and possibly more?

I understand tranny issues, I'm riding till it blows lol.

So as a guess, is a 2.5l required to reach 300whp? Or can I get close with a 2.0l?

.....The Mitsubishi Evo-FQ400 is a 2.0l with 400hp to the crank sooo.....I don't see why not lol.

Gotcha... Yeah a 20g should hit 350 on 93 octane depending on the dyno... 300 is pretty much guaranteed. Now if you go the new xt series and run E85... You'll be on the heels of 400.

Good mindset with the trans... that's what I'm doing too. Currently saving up to build the spare block in my garage, to top it off with a 20g-xt on E. I'm hoping for 400/400, and see how long the trans lasts, then just go PPG when it does blow.
