Default Pop pop pop after turning car off.

Hey all... I've got a feeling this is perfectly normal, but I just thought I would check and make sure.

When parking after a drive I get a steady pop pop pop pop sound coming from under the car for a few minutes after I shut it off. I'm figuring this sound is coming from the exhaust components cooling off, as it happens especially in the afternoons, after a 20 minute commute at 70+MPH. My Cobalt's stock exhaust did this too, but it wasn't this loud.

Everything is cool... right?

You got it. It is just the hot parts of the car cooling off.

No worries. More interesting noises will come out of the car anyways as years go by

+1 for that.

My favorite subaru sound is the whistling of the window seal every time I get on the highway and have to bump my window down and then up again to make it go away. I also enjoy the valves clicking on winter cold startups

It's what makes a Subaru, a Subaru.
