Default Wintercross Race Series 2010/2011 Season

Championship Results 2010/2011 Season

WINTERCROSS SERIES 2010/2011 SEASON

Five events again this upcoming season. This is awesome, inexpensive, fun track time for all drivers and cars. The track conditions are what makes this so exciting, it can range from sunny and dry, to wet and rainy, to snowy and icy!

Wintercross is a mix of Autocross, and Road Racing. Held exclusively on the world famous Miller Motorsports Road Course in Tooele, Utah. Combining all aspects of a driver’s skill to navigate a course unlike any other, the conditions of the track are left to nature, and the course of the day. Snow, Ice, Water, Slush, are a few of the conditions that can be encountered. Drivers must anticipate track conditions, speeds and tire choice in order to obtain the title of Wintercross Champion.

Drivers compete in a time trial type format. Winning place standings will be determined by taking 3 timed hot laps. The driver with the shortest combined time from their two fastest laps, including penalties, will receive 1st place, and so on.

Numbers will be required on both sides of the car. Minimum of 12" high and a 2" stroke. Masking tape #'s work great.

Looks fun. If the weather is decent I wouldn't mind running the z06 but I doubt the z06 will see snow.

i work at Milosport remember? it will still cost about $250-$300 for all of that stuff even with my discounts. i could use a proform for black diamond for the trekking poles... if you guys could do that i'd love it.

Does that black STi have a black and white Utah license plate?

I have seen this a couple times, and I'm sure it's illegal, but how is it done? Paint I'm assuming.

The background is white, yes. But the characters and the top "Utah" bar are black... I saw it on a BMW the other day and thought it was a new optional plate, however I think it's just painted.

what tires do you run for these events? I am not going to wreck my all seasons, or my slicks something soft, yet not squirly?

There were lots of different tire choices out there, also different conditions/etc yadda yadda. For the dry, IMO, something like Toyo R888 or R1's are perfect. They heat up fast enough that after the first two turns you're good to go.

There were people on all season's though as well, really you only are making 7-10 laps during these events, so it's not like tires are going to be destroyed that fast. I just drove on my Dunlop Direzza Z1 in the R, they were pretty nice. Did get squishy about 3/4 the way through the lap though. I didn't take the evo because it has the cup tires mounted that take forever to get up to temp, and until they do are very slippery.

I only have pics of group 2 while I was working the corner stations. I got 2 pictures of each car in the session, just from my cell phone, few extra for greg. Sorry they aren't fantastic haha. I saw some nice cameras out yesterday, hopefully they'll show up soon, and some of group 1.
