Lightbulb Reputable Body Shop - Colorado Springs

First off, yes I searched.

Second, on the way to work today a BMW SUV skipped a lemon-sized rock down my passenger door and dented/slightly creased it as well as gouged the paint. The dent *may* be fixable by PDR, but the gouge looks like it needs a pro.

I'm not really familiar with the COS area and don't know enough about the area to feel comfortable picking a body shop on my own, so I'm looking for a few recommendations. The goal here is to find a shop that will do it once and do it right.

To me, this is an opportunity to also to fix some stone chips on the nose and, if I really go nuts, add some interest in the form of a subtle 2-tone in the key of Gunmetal over Dark Gray Metallic and a Chrome trim blackout.

Thanks in advance...
-Mak

I am having some body work done as well and I was referred to Falcon Collision by my tuner. I can't attest to their ability as I haven't had my work done yet, but they haven't steered me wrong yet.

Go to www.awdpirates.net and search there. There are plenty of threads on that forum about this.

Also I had my rear bumber fixed/sprayed by Abra off Woodmen and Powers and they did excellent work. Heard good things about Falcon Collision also. They are out on woodmen near Falcon.

burnstacp, did you get to see anything in progress when you took your car in that would give you a feel of their workmanship? ...and who tunes around here??? Falcon is close by, I'll go check them out.

I'll stop by Abra as well, both are convenient, in a way.

Thanks!

Revolutions Performance has done A LOT of work on my STi. I just got retuned the other day and am getting my E85 retuned tomorrow now that I have had a few more things done to the car. Just to give you an idea of everything I have I'll list some of my power mods...

Stage 2 Shortblock from RAW
Blouch 20G
Perrin FMIC, inlet, and catted DP
Greddy CBE
KSTech 73mm BIG MAF CAI
Injectors
Star boost control valve
E85 tune

p.s. KAMA! How's Arkansas? Tell the wifey I said hey!

There is so much more but, it's kind of a chore to get into lol.

I did go into the shop today and it looks like a really nice place. They had a few vehicles inside and the guy that has done some excellent ding work for my car before does a lot of work out of there as well I've found and obviously recommends them too. They'll be getting my business and I'm sure I won't be let down. I can't wait to see how my car turns out with a new 2011 front end!!!

+1 for http://falconcollisioncenter.net/ for body work

Revolutions is the best performance shop in town, and the state in my opinion.

Fantastic. It's been a little difficult locating places here in Springs.
I spent 2 years in Seattle and you could practically throw a rock in any direction and hit a tuner. I would imagine having fewer competitors to hide behind would make you want to gain a good reputation and maintain it in this case. I'll check them out.

Burn, the 2011 front end is sweet. I've worn out the copy of Drive that has the 2011 as the centerfold. Want one badly now that they've brought back the STi sedan.

Mine's bone stock for now since it was barely a daily driver of sorts while I was *cough* 'unemployed'. Now that I have an income and tools that are lonely, I'll be getting to work hopefully before winter sets in and the garage dips down to ~8 F.

Burn, how's your car look? I got an estimate (finally) yesterday. WOW inexpensive. I'm considering more work since it'll be in there anyways.

The guy that did the estimate was really laid back and a pleasure to deal with. I just gotta a) drop it off and b)find a way to get to work when I do!

Thanks again for the suggestion!

I just wanna say, I went to this shop yesterday soley based on this thread and couldnt have been disappointed...

I have a prodrive front lip I wanted painted, side skirts painted and possibly pull a nickle size dent from my trunk. PDR on the trunk $125. Not to bad I guess? Dont have any expierence with that. Now' the quote on the lip and skirts to me is insane. $527!? They wanted to charge me $220 alone just to take those 3 peices off cause they claimed it as 2.5 hours of labor... that is insane. Yes, I very easily could/would take them off myself in 10mins, I just forgot to mention that to them during the quote. But the fact thats what they would charge someone for that is robbery... Also said just a respray on the vehicle (no engine bay, door jambs, trunk, etc...) was $5000. Doesnt that seem a bit high for a respray of the same color...?

By the way, burnstacp Im the one that sold ya the lugnuts. Look good on your car. Nice prodrive wheels. Sucks your ride got hit.

I picked up my piece yesterday and between that and getting a dent and gouge PDR'd and buffed out - I'm 100% happy.

*Burn - I saw your baby in there while I had my rocker snapped back on. Maybe you should consider a higher visibility color, like Neon Orange over the blue. Might help you avoid more nut-jobs on the road... or you could buy stock in Falcon Collision It's a beauty, btw.

*Junior - the quality of work I saw is really good... if you brought the pieces to them I'm sure they'd have no problem spraying them. Also, shop labor almost anywhere is high but I guess that's what drives the DIY market My PDR for my door dent was ~75 but it's 100% gone and well worth it to me not to have extra paint on the car.

Junior, sorry to hear about your expectations not being met. I don't go through them for PDR though. If you go through Steve alone it'll probably be a bit cheaper. He does do work for them out of their shop but you'd probably get a lower price going directly to him. Call the guys at Revolutions and ask for his number. When you talk to him tell him I (Adam Burns) referred you.

I'm not sure how much a full respray costs but I can tell you that a full color change that includes door jambs and such is at least $8000 for a good quality job so I would expect something in the ballpark of what they quoted you. Just having a front bumper done at another shop here cost me about $350. Remember that they will probably pull parts off the car and have to reinstall them so that'll add to the cost.

You're right about the labor charge to pull those three pieces being too high. I would just pull them and bring them in to have them painted but you won't get the blending they would do to make sure you couldn't see a difference in paint color.

Thanks for the compliment. I agree, the wheels do look good on my car and the lugs went perfect as far as color goes. The only problem I have with the lugs is they are losing their color quickly from taking the wheels on and off. I really need to get some centercaps on that beeyotch.
