Question water softner

Hi ppl,
The water in my area is so hard it leaves serious water spots.
Now, I've seen some kind of water softner equipment that hooks to the water hose to make the water softer and the water basically just beads right off leaving no water spots.

can anyone point me in the right direction to one of these?

cheers in advance,

Menards/Home Depot should have water softener systems.

You're likely thinking of something like a DI (deionized) water system. I have one from CR Spotless (model DIC-20). The filter media (mixed bed resin) is relatively expensive however which is why folks will commonly only use the filtered water for a final rinse rather than throughout the entire wash. ....and yes, the results are almost completely spot free. I say almost since there can be residual unfiltered water from the wash hiding in nook and crannies that can drip out after the fact depending on how well you rinse and/or the design of the car. I typically dry the car with a blower and then address any small drips (if any) with a MF towel and QD. Either way, (in my case) I can say that my DI system has been one of the most useful detailing tools I have ever purchased.

you don't want a water softener system...water softeners simply trade one type of ion for another which will still result in spots. you want deionized water like Kean said. Lots of pet stores have deionizers in the aquarium section, when i had an aquarium i used to keep a 30 gallon trash can filled with DI water and use it to top any evaporated water or replace the water i changed.
