Is that even a fiesta internally? I mean, isn't that a totally different beast under a fiesta shell?
Unlike the Boxer and Symmetrical AWD for subaru rally cars that makes a subaru WRC cars still a member of subaru Impreza family, I see nothing in that fiesta rally car that makes a fiesta rally car a fiesta family... Or... does the fiesta really have THAT much potential???

Impreza WRC is essentially an STI, Evo Rally Car is Lancer Evolution... the old Celica Rally Car was Celica GT4... Then, what is the Fiesta Rally Car...??(that goes for Scion tC drift cars, too..)

Let's get together and build a Geo Metro Rally Car and fire up 300+ whp 3 cylinder engine.

[edit]
I'm not saying that fiesta is ***ty, that's a hella nice fiesta. But can you really call it a fiesta?

So, what's ecoboost? is it some kind of a forced induction system?
250 PS out of 2.0 ford 4 banger is pretty impressive.

you can say the same for any type of race car. every rally car is based off a street car. an sti is 'more similar' to a wrc car (if there was still one anyways,,,) than compared to the fiesta rally cars. But if you took both the wrc suby and fiesta side by side and took off the non-subaru/ford parts the piles of stock suby/ford bits left over would be mighty small. (and probably about the same size too...)

lots of hatin' on the fords. on a subaru board... i wonder why?

Yeah, I guess you're right.
I've seen videos of making an STI rally car by prodrive and, well, I must say there's very tiny bit of the STI left over in that car...(maybe roof?) Also, this reminds me of Pat's STI we saw at the BBQ.
Still though, All Subie cars still has symm. AWD. What ford car has fiesta's AWD system...? Escape?

I don't hate ford. I love the new fiesta. It's just that I love Subies more!

What makes the Fiesta better than his race prepped GR chassis car?

Other than the heaps of money that Ford is able to throw at his team, what benefit does he have by running the Fiesta? Is the chassis that much better? What about the drivetrain? The brakes? The engine?

I find it hard to believe that the Fiesta is that much better than what he was running. I know it's not terribly scientific, but watch the videos again. The Fiesta couldn't hold a candle to the GR from the #2 video. It doesn't seem to be able to hold the same stunts as the GR car, nor is he able to place the car like he did in video #2. The Fiesta is a roach in comparison, and I bet that if Ford didn't drive to his house with a dump truck full of money, he'd be prepping an STi sedan right now.

just sayin'

I thank you for posting the Pastrana hill climb vid, it made my morning.

I dont know if the subaru or the ford is "better" but I will say either one, with as much time, effort and money spent it will be a bad ass car! I would like to see Ken in a subaru in WRC, but thats not going to happen. Hopefully subaru will re-enter wrc, and get some people like Mikko Hirvonen, Petter Solberg or even bring up Travis Pastrana! thats what I would like to see.

It is cool to have a North American to cheer on in the WRC.
I may have mentioned this before, but Block was doing an interview on the Ellis show last week and was talking about next season in the WRC. Long story short, he's gunning for some TV coverage in North America. He figures that with a yank in the WRC, they'll have one of their own to cheer for.

Hopefully he's right. He's definately in the right car for the US market.

Theres the AWD Taurus SHO (with 263 HP on the Sport) and the AWD Taurus (with 365HP in SHO)

The only thing ford is doing wrong IMO is not making 6 speed manual versions of the cars above...i would be all over the taurus SHO if it wasn't only available in automatic

Oh, ok.
I know the race cars are experiment models of their new technologies and as long as they are making some use of those technologies on production cars, I got no complaints.

Comparing to the GD car, the fiesta has 120WHP more according to the video. Also it has a sequential paddle shift gearbox. This car appears to have more similarities to a wrc car than to a 'built' car. Can't really tell all the specifics from the video. The GR is a longer wheelbase car i think...? Typically that makes it more stable during slides and such.

I'd agree with you that he would still be driving a suby if ford didn't 'drive to his house with a dump truck full on money' but I think there is more to this than just lining his pockets. If i were him, the money would be second to racing in the wrc. He would have been a colossal idiot if he stayed with subaru considering what ford was offering him.

Him moving to ford is good for ford, the wrc, rally in general, and him.

You make a good point that ford was offering him a spot in a global racing series, whereas if he stuck with Subaru, he'd be toiling in the smaller domestic series, destined to be the big fish in a small pond. Kind of a pointless future, IMHO. At least the WRC is a highly respectable series, the pinnacle of a rally racers career.

Love the Travis Video!

With Block I'm sure the extra money from Ford is nice, but seriously he is doing very well for himself without it. His line up of DC Gear for skate, street, moto and snowboarding is doing good and his marketing is some of the best in the world to reach those type of people. And with signing with Ford wether or not he does do well in WRC he will sell a ton more of Ford/Block/DC gear then he would with Suby/Block/DC. Heck I have already have had two customers in my store that was wearing Ford/Block clothing. Otherwise I have only seen Block/ Suby clothing at Subaru meets or BBQ's so it's working already for him, he has Ford customers already hook lined and sinkered.
