Default Rusty ignition coils

Anyone come across this before? I've been having a hell of a time getting my car to start, turns over but just pops. The few times it has gotten going it spits and pops and dies as soon as you give it throttle

I pulled off the coils and they all have severe rust on the contact screw on the inside, I'm going to sandblast them today to see if I can get them to come back, but I think that's the problem.

It's a built motor but they're 05 STI coils. Autronic ECM, phase 1 engine.

Didn't fix it. I think the coils are shot, I'm not getting ANY spark. When I put my motor back in I forgot to hook up the ground wire to the coils and it ran anyway, very badly. I put the ground back on and drove it home (5 miles or so) and every time Ive fired it up since its gotten worse, and now it wont even try to fire. So I think I ruined my coils. Argh.

Let this be a lesson to take your time and double check everything, stupid mistakes cost money!
