Default My '99 Legacy GT 30th Ann. Thread.

So, I picked up this legacy from a member on here, in a friend of mines neighborhood. Quite the find I must say. I got the car about a week before school started which was also lucky.

The car is extremely clean with (now) 86xxx miles on it.

Haven't done much with the car, I washed and waxed it over the labor day weekend while I was home, I put in my pioneer head unit so I could listen to my ipod in the car, and I painted the wood panel plastic interior with Plasti-Dip.

Some of you may have heard of it...it comes in a spray can and dries in a matte black. It's nice because you can peel it off like electrical tape.
Haven't taken any pictures yet, but here are some quick pics of the Legacy the day I left for school.

At some point I will do a proper photo shoot with a friend of mine's camera.

*Disclaimer* I don't have the bike rack because it is JDM tyte and hella sick. I actually have bikes to cart around. Also since my family is from Wyoming I had to put my hippie bumpersticker supporting Wyomings wildlife and stuff.

Do understand just how rare that plastic faux wood trim stuff is ?

The "wood" centre Vent section was only available on the 1999 limiteds.

Lots of folks (including me) would have gladly swapped you their plain textured matte black plastic panels for your faux wood pieces.

which will soon be available for sale..

Exactly. I'm sure it was a factory option and all that, but it just wasn't my style. Felt like I was in my grandparents buick. And since I am going to drive this thing into the ground anyway (longevity wise, not hard) it's really no difference to me.

The sandpaper I used was really fine and the cool thing about plasti dip is it peels off like tape. If it starts peeling and I can see that the clear isn't too roughed up, i'll post them up to the fs forum.

Rare or not, I like the cleaner simple look of the black than the middle aged 90's look of the fake plastic wood.

high five on that! you didnt even have to sand it, i just plasti dipped right over it and has been holding up for almost a year now, but it does come off very easily because i got bored and peeled off a big layer of my plastidip one time when i was waiting for my girlfriend.

very nice car kyle, is it 5spd? what rims are those? and what are the specs? look really good with your ride

Thanks man! I'll admit my buddy and I did prep a little but Plasti Dip is suhweet in the sense that you don't!

Yessir 5spd. And they are the JDM spec (GT-B) 17in Legacy wheels. Quite delicious looking.

I had some bike rails that were brushed silver and I just plasti dipped them to protect them...Just peeled it off to sell the rails and it came off clean. Love that stuff.

I don't know the exact specs on the wheels, next time I'm out at the car I'll give it a look. Being on campus, my car doesn't get driven much (which is nice for the mileage) but it does have to sit in the sun

Right now I'm just looking into suspension options, waiting for deals, etc...and I'll also get the retrofit done at some point soon. Waiting for that winning lotto ticket...
