Default Will this fit?

Was looking at buying an air intake for my N/A 2007 impreza 2.5i. The guy who is selling it had it on an 05RS. Will it be interchangeable?

It's an "Injen CAI for MAF NA".

it will fit with some minor modification... mainly, your car has an extra vacuum line, IE the intake has two inputs and you have 3 hoses.. this is simple to fix though, all you need it a T connector to put two lines into one nub. The rest of the fit is pretty much the Same as the 05.

Cool stuff. Can I put this on myself without voiding the warranty or do I have to take it to a dealer and pay to have them put it on?

You can put it on yourself.

But BE AWARE that this modification will cause your car to run rich in the lower RPMS, which may damage the engine. This has been WELL DOCUMENTED (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1471819) and it is advised that you get a custom tune as soon as possible to avoid future problems.

One of the reasons that I am not running an intake of any sort.

I see....

So what does a "tune" go for/how is it done? Where can I get one etc? Will that void the warranty?

(sorry, but I'm just starting to get into this kind of stuff)

The dealer is the last place I would go for intake installation. The installation has no impact on warranty, only the intake does.. The intake does not void your warranty either, but it can void parts of it. For example if they can prove the intake led to a failure like a blown MAF sensor or something cause directly by it.. you are out of luck.. If your transmission fails or something, the intake will have no impact on warranty.

I had that on my 05 for a while.. they hybrid was my favorite setup.

OK...

#1: Read the MAGNUSON-MOSS WARRANTY ACT and get familiar with it. It covers what parts of your warranty can and cannot be voided by aftermarket modifications.

#2: Page through the stickies on this board and Unabomber's Manifesto. Take some time to educate yourself and you won't sound like such a "noob".

#3: A custom tune can be provided by a person or local shop... I'd begin by asking on the board local to your area.

Also... it's a 2007... how much warranty do you have left anyways?

I'd highly suggest not to buy it. He probably wants a pretty penny for a tube and a filter... And that isn't going to give you loads of power, even with a tune.

Honestly, if I'd buy anything power related for NA, I'd get an exhaust for sound only. Possibly tune later, you'll see gains even over the stock map and be safe.

I've had various intakes and tried them. It's stock for me!

Not sure how much they usually go for, but the guy is asking $70.

i'll have to look for the warranty info, but I bought it a month ago as a "pre-owned certified" car.

I have that intake on my 00RS.

My biggest complaint is that you need to remove the front bumper cover to clean the damn filter.
I ended up putting clips in the passenger side wheel well so it is easier to access.

How hard is removing the cover?

Any other intakes you'd recommend from experience?

Removing the bumper cover or inner fender liner isn't difficult... just some screws and poppers. With those high-flow filters you only have to do it every 25,000mi or so anyways, so you'll do it maybe 5 times over the life of the car.

Other intakes... read about the hybrid setup mentioned in the sticky thread. When it comes time for me to do my intake, that is the route I'm going.

On your car, CAIs and SRIs cause big problems. You shouldn't install one without getting a tune from the one tuner who currently knows how to work around the problem.

I think perhaps looking at the stickied threads in this forum might enable you to find something dealing with the words "CAI", "SRI", and "Problem"...
