Default illumination/boost gauge

2010 wrx gh

installed a electric defi gauge the other day... had some problems with the boost sensor... so i'm waiting for a new one. however, in the mean time, i'm trying to figure out the wiring problem.
here is what i used as a partial guide... between this and the provided instructions..

http://www.3gwrx.com/forum/index.php?topic=1891.0

my problems is this...
my highbeams now are very very dim and the interior lights around the stock stereo and enviromental controls no longer light up.... but if you hit the ac or something... the little yellow lights in the middle of those dials still work... and the stereo still works. it's just the illumination around them... that, and again my high beams.

i have tried taking out the boost assembly but even then the lights are still as stated.
i have checked the fuses but they all seem ok.
i have reinstalled the wiring but it's still the same.
i didn't splice any wires so there isn't a problem there.
i made sure that all of the fuses are plugged in correctly.
...

ideas?

i live in oklahoma.. just in case.

thanks,
john

side note- today i'm going to go get replacement fuses just in case...
