Question Radar Detector Install by Rear View Mirror

So, I've spent some time searching and get a lot of old threads with non-working links or ones that are irrelevant.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a walkthrough as to how to hardwire a radar detector into the roof liner of the car (mine's a '05 WRX). I've got a Whisper model I believe.

Any help is appreciated!!!

I did this with my friend a few years back on his 02. I think you take reading lights out from above the mirror and then splice into those wires. I think we might have even used a piece of standard phone cord? Sorry, its been a while. I just remember it wasn't hard.

A lot of radar detector companies also sell hardwire kits. I'm not sure about whistler but I know Escort does.

Yea, i talked to a friend more electrically inclined and apparently its stupid easy. One power wire and one ground. That'd probably be why no one has written it up, lol. Now just to find that source that comes on with the ignition.

Thanks!

I actually just did this, I'll do a DIY soon. It's pretty sick including the mute button.
