Im heading out there on sunday, There is a 2 for 1 online voucher you can print off.
I have never been before, but it looks pretty cool.

I can also get my Seymour pass printed out on location, and beat the lines that first day.

I find it pretty much hit and miss....I've found some great deals before but the last 2 years have been disappointing.

I would only go to the snowshow if your knowledge of equipment is good, you know what items are worth or you have someone that does come with you.

Next Stop is the Turkey Sale in Whistler...but you gotta know your stuff.

Then check out the local ski shops on 4th etc for last years gear...which should be 50% off.

My rule of thumb for new/used equipment: 40-50% off the list price from last season then about 10% per year after that and then depending if it was used and if its only minor cosmetic damage vs deeper scrapes/core shots/ redrills..etc

Ski boots got a life of about 7-10yrs before I've seen them start to explode

I love looking on Craigslist and seeing old straight skis that are 15-20yrs old and asking $200...the only thing they are good for is making a fence

Ebay USA is usually where its at for ski equipment..I've had many crazy stupid deals!

Oh, so the snow show is a big.. discount sale?

yeah, i more or less know what the market values are for goods. I do too much shopping online. you're right about CL and ppl asking a lot of money. I see old ass gear going for waaay too much. .. but there's lots of suckers out there.

and yup. agree with your discounting pricing model!

i may go to the turkey sale this yr.. dont care that much to add more to my.. crap. lol

Pacific Boarder has a tent/store sale going on this weekend. Flyer showed 40-50% off last year's gear.

It used to be really good, till they started doing to shows about 5-6 years ago then it got split up... and has never been the same since.

Not completely true, a lot of stuff that people consign doesn't even get set out to late Saturday night or Sunday morning....plus the red tags this year get discounted an additional 25% off on the last day!

I'm going Sunday with the wife and kid so if you need help buying used stuff let me know. I know a thing or two about snowboards, snowboard construction, and repairs etc. Oh you can also ask the ski patrols there about the product but make sure to ask lots of questions like is the camber still good, is there any stress cracks around nose/tail/bindings, edges good, base been repaired, construction capped or sandwich...etc.

oh ya I'll be there around 10-11 on Sunday.... pm or BBM me to meet up?

Sunpeaks apparently is hoping to open November 20th, but they will only have 1-2 runs open (out of 122), and even still there will probably be alot of bald spots.

Just not worth it imo.

Im stuck in a dilemma right now.

I plan on making atleast a 3 day trip to whistler, approx $300-350 including lift tickets. Aswell as a couple day trips to whistler during the season.

Anyways,

I dont know which season pass to get..

(after taxes)
Off Peak @ Cypress - $447
Student @ Seymour - $257
Student @ Whistler - $503

Can anyone tell me about seymour? Ive only been last season, but the whole bottom section and other park had no snow so i dont know what's down there. Although seymour is at a really good price, i found the main lift/runs a bit dull. But slowwwww lifts.

As for cypress, it was pretty fun, much longer runs and faster lifts. Although the price of the pass is roughly the same as the whistler season pass, and whistler is much more fun, but further away.

Why did I have to pick such an expensive sport....haha

Well I went to the snowshow this morning. What a joke...it gets worse each year. Its basically all ski rental equipment from the stores, low end stuff or over priced. Lots of Maddogs stuff etc. Even saw a pair so early 90's sx92 salomon boots for $145 and of course HST on all that lovely stuff too.

06-09 I always had a full week night pass at Cypress...usually $340. Now they want $540...HA for what? The Olympics paid for everything and their lost revenue. Now they want to upcharge this year after they screwed us last season. They want $333 now for a 1-nighter pass that u have to lock in the day where grouse is offering $150 1-nighter/ week but you can change the night whenever you want (i'm not seeing it on their website but I picked up the paper at the snowshow)

I think Cypress might loose my business this season. I don't mind paying more if they actually did something besides build a better bar. Light up more trails and start re-grooming the trails at 4pm....like they do out east.

Went and walked on 4th today instead.. Pacific Border has a decent sale. All their 2010 stuffs are on sale, and only a slight discount on the 2011 stuff.

Almost picked up another board today..

Thank for the feedback snow_drift, good thing I passed.

Sunpeaks Student pass was 529+tax (580 total)

The nice thing about the seymour pass (most passes really) is the reciprocal program.

Getting 25%-50% off lift tickets at other mountains is a huge bonus
and bring a friend and get them 10% off seymour.

Dont say the snowshow was terrible, im heading out tomorrow.
First time going too.
