Default 215/60/16 on Legacy?

I can't seem to find any info on this. Does anyone know if I can run 215/60/16 on a 98 legacy gt? These are off a forester and mounted on steele rims.

Thanks

Yes, these wheels will likely fit, although your speedometer will be reading a shade LOW as the wheels are bigger (you will be traveling at a faster speed than your speedometer indicates).

Also there is some possibility of wheels rubbing, and even greater possibility of snow and ice getting packed up on your inner fenders and rubbing against your tyres.

I don't recommend it, but I *think* it will work.

It will be more than a "shade" - it'll be about 5% off, which is a pretty big difference. Those tires are about 1.3" taller than the proper size, so they'll probably fit on the car, but as Jonathan said, there may be problems as a result of the bigger tires.

I wouldn't do it.

i had 215's on the stock wheels slightly lowered and I was rubbing on the fenders all day...you may not be lowered but you're talking about putting bigger tires on there so chances are you'll rub too

GT Bensley is using a Legacy GT wagon. I am not sure what vehicle Legacy1907 was using. Was it a GT ? Or maybe a more basic car like maybe a Legacy L or LS ? Were these 16" wheels, or 15 inches ? What aspect ratio ? 55s ? or maybe 60ies ?

i had 215/55/r16 on a GT that was slightly lowered, but it would rub the inside of the fenders pretty nicely

this site is extremely helpful for finding out what tires will fit and how far your speedo will be off... http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp

a better choice would be a 215/55/16. the closest choice if u want bigger is 225/50/16.

if u went with the 215/60/16, u would be off +3mph. ur speedo would need to read 63mph to actually be doing 60mph.

I've rubed on 205/55r16's with a full car load, and only have ~3/16"s tire to strut clearance in the rear. it's not possible for me to run taller tires or wider ones.

i'm on kyb's and H&R lowering springs, but strut clearance is my killer issue

Could a stock ride-height 99 Legacy L (wagon, if that matters) run 215/60-16s? If not, then what about one with Outback shocks (+1.5") and lowering springs (-1.5")?

I have 205/55/16 on my 99 outback and it seems like a tight fit but it did clear. 05 WRXwheels. I was afraid it would rub but it doesnt. Maybe see if you can find someone to let you test fit ??

I dont know if the outback shocks will work with lowering springs. You might be compressing the shock to much??

I wouldn't think Outback shocks would work well with lowering springs either. Either opt for GT shocks, or some KYB GR-2s if you're going with new parts...

I think 215's are the widest. But I could be wrong.

Outbacks can get 225 to fit. I read that on the subaru outback forum. Id think 215 on a legacy with stock suspension should fit.

made mine out of a semi mudflap from a farm and fleet store. Much more durable than teh ikeas, but they only come in black.
