1993 Impreza Climate Control bulbs

Ok so the bulbs behind my climate dials blew so I searched online to see which ones they were and it looked like I needed 74s so I went to autozone and had the guy there double check in their system; "1993 Impreza LS Instrument panel... 74... yup these are the ones." So I took them outside and popped them in, they seemed slightly bigger than the ones I pulled out and the little green condom things from the old ones were too small for the new ones, but i put them in and started the car to check anyway, and 2 of the 3 worked. The Fan control did not light up, and that one seemed to fit especially wierd. Odd thing is, the bulb got warm, but didn't light. Kinda scary lol. So I'm driving home when the temp dial blinks out... uh oh. Pop open the bezel to find the bulb fell out of the socket, and into the dial lol then I tried taking the bulb out of the Mode dial, and as soon as I pulled it, the bulb came right out of the boot as if I didn't push it in (which I did, tight as I could) So now I'm thinking 74 was the wrong size, or there's something up with my climate control unit itself.

Anyone know what size bulbs the 93 Impreza's climate dials use, or haev any tips for me? Thanks.

74 should be the ones. That is what I used on my 95. Maybe you're little metal bulb contacts are bent or corroded.

I think when it says "instrument panel" they mean the dash. I remember my 02 impreza had funny little bulbs that i had found at radioshack.
