Have a Nice Day? Cloth vs Leather Seats

I just purchased the Premium hatch and now i am debating whether or not to get the limted trim. i sat in my friends WRX and he had cloth seats. the interior didn't really excite me much....so i figured maybe the leather seats may be a good option. especially when i unce unce in the car. it would be easier to clean and wipe down.

Does anyone know the quality of the leather seats? do you think it is worth it to upgrade to the limited to get the leather seats and HID headlights? i was looking at getting OKOLE seat covers for around $550.

thanks for your input!

personally not a fan of leather, too slippery, hot in summer, cold in winter.... ultimately it's up to you to decide which you like.

I’ve got leather in my 03 and I love it. I’m in Wisconsin where it gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s got its disadvantages but the heated seats help in the winter. There okay within a minute or two and the car is freezing still anyway so the temp of the seat doesn’t matter so much. In the summer its ok as long as you’re not sitting in it without a shirt or something then it sort of sucks. But here’s the great part about leather that offsets the whole cold hot thing. You can spill on it, you can sit in the car dirty I’m a mechanic and I drive my car to work no worries. Some leather cleaner and conditioner and they look new again. BTW my leather is black and grey.
Good luck with the new car

i opted for leather seats, i hate em but i also love them. Leather vs cloth on looks leather takes it. But leather vs cloth in comfortability cloth would take it. also cloth stains easier iirc leather you can just buy wipes.

Cloth vs leather is subjective. Cloth is easier to clean and care for. Leather, you'll need more care especially if you have pets or little kids.
I personally like the looks and feel of leather.

Coming from heated black leather seats in my audi to cloth non heated seats in my wrx. I'll take the cloth any day of the week.

I like that that cloth seats hold up for longer. Leather starts showing wear and tear really early.

I got the limited specifically because of the heated leather seats, HID and moonroof combo.

It makes the car feel a lot nicer - decidedly nicer looking than our outback with cloth seats.

One thing is for certain: I will never own a car without heated seats. When you have a bad back, heated seats are great.

Edit: having a baby sealed the deal on leather. If there's puke, I don't want it soaking through cloth seats.

The manual says not to use them because they interfere with the side airbags.

I like Sti seat... leather + alcatana. Maybe I should consider a swap.

I cboose limited because $1000 more you get HID and sunroof, why not? Unless you hate leather... I did think leather seat gives a touch of luxury, but I have to say Subaru's leather seat is not that good.

they are nice seat covers. i've personally seen and sat in one even though it wasn't in a wrx. only thing i'm concerned was if they make it to the same shape as the attached headrest in the standard wrx and sti.

I don't like leather because in the summer my back sweats and then I look like I've just gone for a run. Cloth is nice and breathable.

I do like leather because it's really easy to clean and really easy to get dog/cat hair off of.

I own an 11 wrx limited, love the stock hids and sunroof. The leather seats could be nicer, coming from infiniti most of my life and a brief stint with Mazda, the leather was always higher quality and had some sort of softer leather insert.

Cloth or leather with the WRX doesn't matter seeing that the seat it's covering is terrible to begin with. No depth, no side/hip bolsters, flat and bench like.

I have an 06 Limited. I love it, sets me apart from every other subie around my neck of the woods. Comfort is great, durability is great. I say you do it, you wont regret it.

Only down side is when its hot outside it gets pretty warm in there until you start going

Get the cloth. Leather in my car sucks. Jump in with shorts....jump out with 2nd degree burns. I'm getting Wet Okoles real soon. It was first on my wish list but the Accessport, exhaust, tint and interior lights all took priority..lol.

Again - seat covers interfere with the airbags in the seats.

Longer shorts, perhaps?

Cloth is usually my choice, but I've had some nice leather seats before; depends on the leather.

No one mentioned this yet.

But if you smoke in the car then leather is the way to go. Fabric would absorb all the smoke in the long run.

I choose the Premium, I couldn't justify the extra $1000+ for HIDs and Leather. I'm not sure about the 11s but this is the only difference that I could find with the 12s. We still get the sun roof and heated seats in the premium.

Side note: I think the OEM HIDs are cool, they are adjustable (from the driver seat) and they cost over $1000 to buy from the dealer so if you really want the HIDs the limited might be a good idea.

Even better is quitting smoking! Imagine how a smoker's lungs smell.
