Default Would it be possible?

To swap out the N/A engine in my 07 2.5i with an 06 or later wrx engine? Would everything be able to go together no problem in the way of the transmission and all of that stuff?

Seems like it would be easier and an interesting project for me to do that instead of trading it in, getting money for it (not sure how much I would even get), being without a car for who knows how long, and then maybe having to get even more money to buy a wrx! How much would an engine generally go for?

Input very appreciated!

Possible, people are already doing it in the subaru conversion forum.

However, it's not as practical.

But in the terms of interest and sleeperness, do it.

Oh, and any particular models/year engines that won't fit/work? Just trying to get an idea of what i'm looking for before I commit to anything.

To put in general terms, an engine is going to run $2500 to $3000 complete with ECU, the install, if you don't do it yourself is gonna run about another $2000 or so, depending on whom you use.

There will be alot of wiring and other techinical things involved, it's not for the faint of heart and not something that can be done without focus and dedication.

A local guy on my local board tried to do it and go so tired and fed up with small issues, that he eventually paid a qualified shop to do the swap for him.

My numbers may be off here or there but I think they are a good rule of thumb.

My suggestion is to go into a wrx directly and either trade or sell your car. Swaps are cool and all but it's not like your swapping an STI engine into a GC body.

Why not just get the car you want and bypass all the headaches and such of a swap.

A wrx is meant to be a wrx and there is more to a wrx than just it's engine.
