you buy each one for a purpose. if you want more of a performance feel, you get an STi. if you want a little more comfort but still fun, you get a WRX.

If anything they rattle more. I wouldn't say either have a problem with build quality though.

Oh yes, the Impreza WRX STi gets extra special care when being built compared to the Impreza WRX.

Why would they be any different? Especially now that they are the same shell? You think they build both seperately? I'm 99.9% sure they start on the same body line and then diverge into seperate lines when it comes to the interior, powertrain and electronics.

Build quality on my 2010 WRX is definitely on a par with other Japanese auto manufactures building "for the masses." I am quite satisfied with my WRX, no rattles, no squeaks, no loose parts. But...I still view it as a bit of an econobox...just one with a lot of performance.

Close inspection of a 2011 STi didn't show any discernible differences in "attention to detail" in the fit and finish. The interiors are almost identical, so that's not surprising.

My sti has a few rattles inside, any car over time will get them. Also my Right front rotor/caliper makes some clunking noises in reverse and a loud squeak! ah it is embarrassing.

Bigger displacement? No. (This from a "specialist"?)

As for newer gen the vf52 is just about the same as the vf48 in terms of power when mapped correctly. So A tie.

You can get bigger wheels for a song., so it does not matter.

Stronger Tranny, check.

Bigger brakes, check.
Larger diameter wheel bearings, check.

Better stock dampers, check.

Stiffer springs, check.

Stiffer bushings, check.

Fit and finish, the same.

Rattles and paint, the same.

Hell, they even both have the widebody now.

Now figure out, given what you want to do with it if these things are worth 10k to you.

"Just get an STI" Isn't really a plausible argument.

A. Some people prefer a sleeper
B. Same displacement as listed above
C. Wheels are easy to change
D. Alot of people unbadge there car.... why would sti badges be good?

On the lines of the question for the thread they have the same build quality. It's just whether STI is right for you or not.

IMO it used to be "just get an STI" and as of 2009+ it's "just get a WRX".

Yep, cause when we buy a boosted four cylinder we're looking for straight-line speed and 0-60 times.

Build quality has always been shoddy. As far back as the early 90's.
