Question Trade in 2008 STI for 2011 STI Limited

I've been thinking about trading in for the new STI Limited edition.

Pros:

- wing is back
- better suspension
- lighter bbs rims
- leather seats (i love leather seats)
- moonroof

Cons:

- car note resets
- from current 0% finance on loan, I'd go to whatever the ongoing APR is..

What do you think?

Miles on your 08? If you have 25k miles on the car, you just took the depreciation hit for the next guy. You will likely get just about 50% of the original MSRP back. My 08 is about to hit 70k and I'm thinking perhaps upgrading when I hit 100k, probably end of next summer. Especially if you are upside down on the car, don't do it.

I currently have 33.3K and counting.. I'm about even with the payoff.. about 1.5k upside down..

I say do it, it would be tons of fun to have the brand new model with all the goodies. As far as mods go you won't get some of the burnt out stuff on the market, you will have fresh new designs and you will be one of few with that style!

It's your money, do what you want with it. Be prepared to take a loss on the 08 though.

I think you should get a new Koeniggsegg Agera actually, please add that to the poll, I'll vote for that.

I'd wait until the '12's are out and see if the re-designed boxer gets any significant power and fuel gains if not there should be some decent deals on the '11's by then. That's when I'm going to make my decision.

If you really want to go through with it, then if i were you, i'd sell the 08 privately. i think you'd be able to make more of the value off it that way then if you traded it in.

but i also think you should just keep the 08 and wait till the next model comes out.

As fun as it would be to have the newest STI around, you are going to take a huge hit from depreciation. I wouldn't do it, but it's your money.

I going to wait until the 2012 STI is out and then look for deals on the 2011 models or compare if there are any significant changes ^_^

Wait till 2012 for new motor, or 2013 for new chassis.
It's not really an upgrade for you unless you want the latest STi. You might be really disappointed if in 2012 a great new motor emerges for our Subarus

08 STi's are getting good trade in value. I got $26.5k (paid $32.8) for mine (not too bad of a hit) and drove it for 2.5 years, so you may want to see what you'll get for yours.

Sell the 08 privately to get the best $$$ for it. While you are waiting for it to sell, shop for the best financing with a credit union or bank. Or maybe in the mean time a special financing offer will come up with Subaru. We are headed into the worst time of year for car dealerships, so they will negotiate more to your advantage. Buy on the last few days of the month, preferably at the end of November or December if you want the best deal.
