Default custom duel exhaust

I have always loved the look of twin pipes coming out the back of cars, so I was happy when Subaru took this up. I have an 02 wrx and have been contemplating doing a custom exhaust. Here's what I'm thinking (correct me if this won't work). Since there isn't much room on the passenger side under the trunk, I figured the muffler(s) would have to be moved to mid car, similar to the older style muscle cars. Coming from the down pipe, you could go straight into a glasspack or similar silencer. If there is room, you could have two. From there it would split to two pipes, both following the same path to the rear. At that point, one would have to be bent to go to the other side of the car, most likely just past the spare tire since I don't think there would be enough room to do it before. Then it's a matter of cutting the right side of the bumper to match the cutout on the other side.

I'd photoshop this, but have never done anything like it. Anyone think this would work/look/sound good?

It won't work like with muscle cars. We have a downpipe, a single exit downpipe that continues as a single pipe to the muffler. It really will just be extra weight and a loss of clearance because the pipes merge at the uppipe (killing the sound benefit of duals).

If you want the look of duals, add a y-pipe just before or after the rear diff. For straight pipe tips add a single in/ dual out type muffler under the car. For dual canisters in the back, add a second muffler on the passenger side like the driver's side. I don't remember how much room is under the trunk but you can TRY to fit a wide style muffler like the 08 wagons.

Buy an 08-09 exhaust and modify it to fit.

you want your exhaust to fight?

Duel is a fight....

Dual is more than 1...

If you do make the dual exhaust sys, tuck the tailpipes into the rocker panels and dump before the rear wheels.

Loud and anoying FTW !!

I've been wanting to do this for a long time, and put in slash-cut oval tips in the side skirts, kind of like the Shelby GT. However, I decided this would be way too loud for my DD, and I kind of like the look of a muffler in the rear of the car.

Basically, I talked myself into being lazy...

...more than one but less than three, and is an integer. That dual exhaust in the vid sounds good... do it.

I hope you guys have noticed that a Subie doesn't have the same profile or body lines as a Shelby, GT, Vette, Viper, or NASCAR. Sidepipes and side exit exhausts aren't going to look the same.

I actually plan on doing this.

Y pipe on the axle back to 2 stock STi exhausts (removing the charcoal box) and see if I can stuff it in there and make it work. If it doesnt look like it will, I will try for a Legacy GT exhaust with twin ports on both sides.
