Watch out for the closet VR6 fans to rush in here and tag-team your arse.. That happened in the thread about the idiot wanting to put a VR6 in the WRX engine bay..

...and I don't understand how they justify their arguements. I had a MkIII VR6...nothing special. Cool car, granted, but the WRX can walk away from it at any speed.

Not to mention well-tuned G60's and 1.8T swaps (the Corrado swap is one of the easier MK3 swaps for the 1.8T).

Some guy on our local board has a 1.8T Wolfsburg with some big mods; hybrid turbo, TB, chipped, upped boost and it is STILL slower than my bone stock WRX... he's not too happy about that :P

Slower 0-60? or from a roll? Assuming you both know what you're doing, and his car is tuned right, a chipped 1.8T with an upgraded turbo would own a stock WRX on the highway. The only thing you have going for you from 0-60 would be AWD.

Never tried from a roll, he does 14.5-14.7 1/4, I do 14.3

If I would of wanted to race on a highway I would of bought something else... highway racing is VERY boring.

1/4 mile and red light to red light racing is what I'm in and he doesn't even come close sometimes, if he f*cks up his launch it's all over and even if he get a godly launch it's still over.

Default Had a Corrado 1.8L G60 (not VR6) Stage 4 and engine work..

Last year, I had a 1991 Corrado G60 and various mods. I feel that I am qualified enough about this subject and can honestly speak the truth here. I also currently own a VW Golf 4 (my wife's).

I had a G60 with a Garrett Stg 4 ++ chip, 268 cam, cone filter intake, 2.25" catback, 944 FPR, adj pulley, 62mm super overdriven pulley, etc. I also had the engine rebuilt with head porting, increased engine compression from 8.0:1 to about 8.8:1, and a set of total seal rings (full kit).

That car on the highway was fairly quick and would outrun a stock WRX, but by no means could it touch it in the 1/4. I ownly took it to the track once before I lost the car to a major mishap. It ran 14.4 or so at best. I think it could've done better if it had been more broken in (only had a 1k miles on it) and if I had more runs to practice the launches. Now on the other hand, I've seen stock WRX's run 14.1.

Before I did the engine rebuild + Stg 4 kit, I had a Garrett Stg 2 w/ 110k miles on the odom. The most I could ring out of it was 170whp. Now my friend had a Corrado VR6, and he had less miles than mine and was only putting down 154whp (all stock/ no mods except K+N filter). So no, the VR6's are not that powerful but sound pretty cool

The VR6's are maybe a high 14 sec car when modded (not turbo) to the best of my knowledge. Hell, even with turbo or SC they're not running as fast as the WRX's with upgraded turbos.

Our little WRX 1994cc whoops up on the VR6

(Oh and BTW, I'm running 12.9's and haven't spend a ton of money to do it at only 14.5 psi)

Blanket statement???

If we are talking stock for stock then what else needs to be said??
I had my rex and a VR6 at the same time and sorry but no way could that VR6 even hang with my rex. It's just that simple. Moded 1.8t can be just plain fast but a VR6 is just not in the same territory.

Oh and to answer your question a WRX is saposed to top out at 135 but I wouldn't know. You are a complete idiot if you want to test that out.

it's more than 135... it's more like 145mph.. I toped out at 230-235km/h going on a very flat highway.

Only went there once, you HAVE to know what your vehicule tops out at... I can't even think of ANY situation I would need to remotely go at that speed

Default DIDN'T think anybody would care...

OK...

So I have averted street racing and getting cocky 'cause some car that looks rigged rolls up next to me. This kind of stuff is bad, first off, and that's my disclaimer. Some dude was arrested out here street racing and someone else is throwing around photos online of people wrapped around highway dividers and mashed-up WRX's. Mad crazy.

But our little Subies can hum and a former VW owner myself ('90 Golf Wolfsburg), I can surely say they are sweet cars and I came THIS CLOSE to getting a Golf 1.8T but then they discontinued the 4-door this year. Bloody stupid but getting the 'Rex was good.

Racing this guy was stoopid. But , TO DISPELL ALL SPECULATION, his Corrado was a G60 and he wasn't revving his engine at the light to get his Air-Conditioning primed either. So I had to show him, in ONE CITY BLOCK, why his car IS COOL,
but NOT AS COOL AS MINE.

Read above! G60 Stg 4 with lots o' *****! No match for stock form WRX, and certainly no match for a modded WRX

Yes.

...and what does owning a WRX and a VR6 have to do with anything? Because I don't own one, I automatically have no idea about what the car is capable of?

You said that you could walk away from a VR at any speed and I don't beleive that. Do you think that from an 80 punch to 140, your WRX would "walk away" from a VR? Doubt it. Sorry.

I would like to find out though and that's why I said it's a shame your all the way in Florida.

What does it have to do with it...ummm, EVERYTHING! Being that I had both cars and driven both extensively means that I have a pretty good idea of what both are capable of.

As for driving 140, sorry, I enjoy living and would rather not put my life in the hands of my tires... Keep driving 140 buddy, I'll just feel comfortable KNOWING that my WRX can beat a VR6 at any sensible speed.

I'm assuming that you haven't taken your WRX to 140 so your "extensive" driving experience doesn't mean anything to me. Until you have pushed both cars to their limits, I don't really see how you can make a comment like that.

You said you can walk away from a VR at any speed, now you cop out...

It's okay if you can't back up what you said, just don't keep making up excuses for your blanket statements.

When did I say I went 140 in a WRX? Please show me, I'd love to see it.

I still don't think the WRX will "walk" a VR from an 80-140 run. I would like to find out, that's all. No need to get your panties in a bunch.

You an Dori Dori are acting like kids, but hey, maybe you are.

W T F!

Are you a retard? You would be trying to egg me on to a 140mph+ race if I lived near you and you are calling me a kid. O...K...

Also, if you think that 'pushing a car to it's limits' is driving to it's max speed...why did you buy a veedub? Stupid choice buddy.

:monkey: trolls.
