Harvey and Larry,

you guys need to work on that 60' foot time bad.

How are launching??

Larry, your ET would be a 14.30 or .26-27 EASILY with a better sixty foot.

harvey would be 13.60's.

Having been around drag racing all my life, i can say that you can just about DOUBLE what you lose on 60'.

Let me explain.

I race a Nova every weekend. Sometimes 3 times a week.

I will normally get 1.530 60' foot.
This equates to an average ET of 10.90

If i get a 1.630 60' foot.
The car will run right around 11.10

This "general" rule applies to tenths, hundreths, thousandths.

Hope that kinda makes sense.

Default first rule of testing

First rule of testing:
Only work on one thing at a time.
It is more important to have consistant 60' times if you are checking other things out.

Be patient !!

Larry
But why not have consistently fast 60' foot times?

1.85-1.88 would work

First time I have ever run any car at any strip, with a badly leaking uppipe, and an inability of the VF30 to hold anything more than 17psi of boost at the redline. I'm not ashamed to admit that I ran the following:

60' 2.106
330 6.108
1/8 9.429
MPH 73.86
1000 12.219
1/4 14.559
MPH 94.43

From anybody who actually has run their car at this altitude, constructive advice is very much appreciated. My observation was that most cars were running 1.0 to 1.5 seconds slower than you would expect to see at sea level. My mods are just about the same as Phasts, with the exception that he runs LINK and I run a Unichip.

My launches felt ok, although it seemed like my clutch was slipping. After watching several other WRXes run, I came to the conclusion that I actually had excessive front wheelspin. I noticed Phast also experience this. With the exception of his quick runs, all the WRXes I saw were running 60' times of between 1.9 and 2.2 seconds.

Temperature for that run was 70F, and absolute barometer was 23.38.

Talking Sixty foot excuses

Moore, I know I know. Just sold my 70 Cuda. It totally makes sense. I was launching around 5000RPM. Sorta letting off slow until I feel hookup and then I just totally let off, no bog, instead of just a fast letoff which got me the 1.82 sec. I want a car that pulls 13 second ET's without 6000 RPM launches. Maybe with exhaust I can do 4000 RPM launches for 2.00 second 60' times. A 13.6 would be super dooper.

#1--- I am being nice to my clutch now. I have pulled a 1.82 on the 60' but after 43 timeslips I think I will be nice to my tranny till she gets a better clutch and flywheel.
#2--- Vf30 is different and this was my first night launching with it.
#3--- The maps Shiv sent were for a turboback also, so I am running really rich. Fine by me, Vf30+stock turboback+no EGT guage yet+ no knocklink= Cautious Harvey
#4--- Got out of work at 4a.m. got up at 8:45a.m. My E.T.s were erratic all night.
#5--- Smoked something funny but didn't inhale. (hooray for Boulder) Jah Rule
