Default 93 Legacy Wagon idle issue.

I've got a 93 wagon 5mt and it's been a total beast for the past 2 years. Anyway this morning I was in stop and go traffic (in about 50 degree weather, one of the first chilly days of the year) and I noticed the idle was hovering around 2k.

So I tapped the throttle while I was in neutral and it dropped down to about 650-700ish and threw a CEL. I decided to take the back road and see if I could make it to school... Well, about ten minutes later the engine quit at a stop sign. All electronics worked fine still. The car started right back up, the CEL went away and I drove to school fine with no more issues.

The idle got pretty low (500-600) a few times on the way home about 8 hours later, but has been pretty much normal. Is this something I need to be concerned about?

Perhaps your IACV is on it's way out? See if you can throw the code again, and diagnose the CEL with the diagnostic wires. If you don't know how to check the CEL here is a video I made:

And if you diagnose the CEL and it happens code 42 (IACV) Here is a video I made on how to replace it:

Fairly easy job, I had part numbers too, I cannot find them though. Do it when the engine is cold to avoid any coolant leaking everywhere.

If you end up getting another code, report back here and we can see where to go from there.
