Default NJ, Jersey City Insurance?

I have current insurance but it's costing an arm and a leg. I am trying to find an insurance company with better rates than 7k anually. I am from Jersey City, NJ. Thanks.

-Sorry if I started another thread about insurance. I noticed there was one already, but I wanted to target this search to New Jerseyans... Thanks...

You're kind of out of luck on that one. IIRC, Jersey City and Newark have the highest auto theft rates in the country, hence the high insurance rates. Add to that the fact that you're driving a car that is appealing to thieves makes it all the worse. Try shopping around with different insurance companies to try to get a better rate. I'm under my dad's policy now and still paying $4000 a year.

I think that in NY and NJ area, annual insurance is around 4K. Assigned risk pool insurance should be around 5K to 7K, I believe.

Just under 5k for me. I doubt it gets much lower than that. One option would be using an address from the burbs somewhere. That would lower it significantly.

i live in nj and pay $725 annually for insurance. then again, it is listed under my mother in pa.

and yes, i am scared to drive for fear of idiot jersey drivers hitting me and uncovering my little routine.

Sorry to tell you, but you are stuck in the worst possible area in the state. Jersey City is in the territory with the highest rate in NJ. Try shopping around, and call NJ Manufacturers to see if you can get it through them. They have the cheapest rates, but they have specific requirements that you must meet. Contact them for the details.
