Default ej22t Flat tops?

I have a ej22t it is pretty tired. It's got a lifter tick and loads of blowby. The engine only runs 4 pounds of boost. If you rig it to run 12 or 14 pounds it simply runs out of fuel.

Now the engine will run great until the check engine light comes on then I suspect it is going to limp mode brought on by bad vibrations or a bad knock sensor.

I'm thinking the factory compression ratio is right around 8.0 to one or 9.0 to 1. Now with these thoughts in mind I was thinking how to get more than the measly 15 mpg. Up the compression ratio alloT!

Only running 4 pounds of boost is not allot. I'm thinking If I get somewhere around 10. to 1 or 11 to 1. I could attain better mpgs and a good bit more power over where I'm at now. Without spending gobs of money.

I know the limitations of fuel. I have a set of cheap ways to get around that. I'm wondering if anybody has done it.

And if it works out I might throw a supercharger on it instead as I have a few on the shelf. Making that little boxer grunt more than it screams is what I'm envisioning.

Also I'm really confused about heads. I don't know which ones to look out for which ones are desirable. What the combustion chambers and valve sizes are on these heads.

Also think I need a plastic maf. Mine is the metal one which I've read before whigs out when it get's too much flowing through it.

Your ECU is hitting fuel cut at about 12 psi. That is the limit of the stock computer. You will need a JECS MAF, injectors, and a performance chip to run a bigger turbo at higher boost. Take a look at this.

As for bumping up your compression to get better mileage, I can't help you. People with built motors don't care about wasting gas LOL!

Yea mine is getting ridiculous fuel mileage though. We are talking single digits. And I'm not going anywhere. Do I have to use their MAF? Or can I go with the Plastique subaru one? I need to rebuild the bottom end and replace some components in the head.

So I was thinking while I was at it might as well spend some money on forged pistons to get it a little bit less prone to dien on me. Was also thinking why not spend a couple hundred dollars on a replacement head to get a little more zinging going on.

Do you know of any other routes I can go with the computer? I know where I can get the exhaust done cheap. And I already have two m90's and a m62 that I wanna use on something. Two linear superchargers putting out close to 30 pounds of boost from idle seems to be a dream of mine.

My computer system is screwed. I have a grocery list of sensors that are bad. Also causing limp mode after it heats up.
