Default CEL after 2.5 swap

I finished up my 2.5 swap two days ago and now I have a check engine light. I have a 95 impreza with a 98 forester DOHC 2.5. It seems to run ok but the only trouble I had was hookin up vacuum sensors. Anyone have any issues after they did this swap?? The engine is fully rebuilt heads, block, pistons, everything. I'm new to this. This is my first subie and first engine swap. Any help, ideas or comments please. Thanks guys

What codes? Just saying you have a CEL isn't specific enough and is not going to help in finding the problem. Get it checked out. I believe OBDII in the US started in 1995, so bring it to advanced auto parts or something, they will diagnose it for free.

Well I don't know what the code is. Obd II started late 95. My car is Obd I. I have to manually read the codes. Haven't had one to do that yet. Everywhere I've checked no one has a Subaru code reader or adapter cable. So my next choice is going to the Subaru dealership. Idk I will have to update later. I'm just hopin it's not serious. It's not running any different, I don't think sounds fine. I spent 1500$ at the machine shop to fix this engine so I really want it to be working fine. Thanks though like I said I'll update later when I can find something out

NOOOOOOOOOOO. WAAAAAAIIIIIIIIITTTTTTT. Before you take it to a dealer, try this. OBDI Subies can be diagnosed by you! Watch this video - I'll tell you how its done.

Please don't have the dealer diagnose it for $105 when you can do it yourself! Save your money for the repair you are going to have to do.

Ok thanks I'll check it out. I didn't know it would cost that much lol that's ridiculous. I used to work at a shop so I have some guys that would help me look it over for free. But yea def can do it myself I just need the time and the know how. Thanks I'll let u know what I come up with if it's not an obvious code like o2 sensor or something
