Default SOLD!! AST 5200 coil over struts

SOLD

I'm looking at replacing my AST 5200 coil over suspension. This is an inverted monotube setup with external reservoirs. I've had this setup on my 2006 WRX for two seasons now.

what they looked like when they arrived

mounting of the external reservoir up front

I currently am running 800/650 springs, and those would come with the struts, along with the very nice Vorshlag camber plates.

my WRX in action last month with ASTs on

The struts with springs (including helpers) and camber plates costs in the vicinity of $5300 new. I'm looking at $2600 obo, plus shipping (if necessary, and I'd rather not). If you really have to pay via PayPal, you will also pick up those fees (I'd prefer Revolution MoneyExchange over PayPal if you have to pay online). They will not be available until I pick up my new-to-me suspension, which will be next month (November).

I can get current pics of them on the car this weekend after I pick it up. Questions? Want pictures? Send me an email : kiirenza at g mail dot com. My PM box is close to full, so you are encouraged to email me rather than PM.

I wish these fit on my car, I'd pick them up in a heartbeat. What are you replacing these with?

The zzyzx suspension that I've 'd since I first saw it on Joel Fehrman's BSP STi... and the one that will likely get me stalked and killed by ButtDyno.

This is what Terry Fair of Vorshlag posted on another forum.

Whoever gets these 5200s at $2200 is getting a STEAL! That's less than half price. You can read more about AST models here: http://www.vorshlag.com/ast_models.php

AST 5200

High end, race ready monotube adjustable suspension that is still streetable
Rebound and Compression Adjustable (doubles)
Modular design - Fully upgradeable to 5300 spec (triples)
Remote reservoirs allow additional travel and heat dissipation
44.5mm diameter shaft struts, Inverted
Remote reservoir with hose, for optimum heat dissipation and additional stroke
Spherical upper shock mount assemblies available
Synthetic hydraulic fluid
Fully supported in the USA

This is one helluva good suspension for the price. It literally has no equal for even 2X the price new, for track or autocross use. It was good enough to help Karen secure a National championship in her first year on them.

Whoever get's these give me a shout and I'll help you get the proper camber plates built to work with the 5200s, might even have you send them in for camber plate installation & shock inspection. We can also help you with set-up and spring choices.

Cheers,
Terry Fair

It's funny because I sent John the link to this thread and told him to buy the 5200s from you since it's a hell of a deal and I would find the irony in John buying them since he <3s Terry sooooooo much!

With something like this you're REALLY going to want camber plates.

Also according to http://www.vorshlag.com/product_info...f392c9a346b6f3

Vorshlag front and rear camber plates (these are required for 5200 & 5300 series dampers - this strut model uses a 16mm OD upper strut shaft in front, which is larger than the OEM upper strut mount is made to accept)

i am considering purchasing them for my dd. don't be offended i think the gfsrt mods (matt and nhat) can attest that I'll put them to good use

it's also interesting that the camber plates will also work on the zzyzx gear too.

Well, Terry said I might have to modify the plates a little bit. Because of the external reservoir routing (and the need to release the nitrogen charge in order to take the plates off), I might just sell these with the Vorshlag plates on them for another $450 or so.

As for the mounting, I would send the brackets that IAG made along with them. The fronts are sort of a tight fit, but the rears are easy.

rear reservoirs

passenger side front mount

The driver side mount is in the original post. Hope that helps.

I won't be picking them up until next month. I guess this means you're going to start going to the Arundel Mills meets?
