Default SLC locals help me out.

I need you guys and gals to help me out here. I want to take the girlfriend out for a "romantic" night out on thursday. We haven't done anything like this in a while and I want to remind her of how special she really is to me.

So for getting something to eat, what do you guys suggest. Price is no concern. If its romantic and great tasting, its well worth it. Or if you guys have any good ideas on what to make at home, send them this way. With only living here for the past year I haven't really walked around downtown. If we go out, are there any areas that have "common areas" that I can bundle up around her and keep her warm as we walk around after dinner? That type of stuff.

I know theres a few that oughta have some ideas. Ladies, any input?

I would recommend Cucina Toscana. I proposed to my wife here. Also their are a bunch of art galleries in walking distance as well as the gateway for a movie. I've seen Andre Kirelinko and his wife their. Be prepared to drop $200-$300 on food, add $100 for wine and dessert. Here is the link with the menu

Can't go wrong with Italian or Sushi. If you wanted to drive for dinner, Windy's Sukiyaki in Ogden is GREAT. they have private rooms, and the sushi is excellent.

Yeah, Have you seen me lately +40lbs since the wife got pregnant. No but in all seriousness, You order in three courses each around $20-$30 each+appetizers, When i proposed to my wife Our bill with wine was just under $300+25%= $375. The menu can be deceiving. And That total above was for 2

Benihana is my wife's favorite and they have amazing Saki lol, they have hibachi grilles up stairs with a sushi bar downstairs very nice atmosphere and its downtown SLC. Red Iguana is pretty amazing as well and has won several awards and has won best of Utah for Mexican Food multiple including this year. I also forgot about Ruth's Chris steakhouse now this place is one of the best steakhouses on the planet but its pretty pricey, you order everything separate. IE when you order a steak all you get is a steak and have to pay separate per side, but very romantic.

Rice

It's a sushi place on state street. If you go on monday-thrusday it's half off sushi. Such a sick deal.

There's a Japanese cuisine place at the Gateway as well too but, I forget what it's called.

I'd be scared of the "expectations" that followed a $300 dinner.

Go to park city. Chez Betty is by far the best romantic restaurant the wife and I have ever gone to. The food is awesome as well.

I will agree that Park City is a nice place to go with many good restaurants.

Forget all of this noise. If you want to take her to a place where you both can sit and talk to each other rather then stuff your face then go to melting pot in SLC. Fondu dinner is excellent; you'll be looking ~$100 for both of you w/o alcohol.

Melting pot is operated and overpriced for what you get. Much like most upscale chain restaurants. Ruths Chris included. Go somewhere the chef cares about what they are serving.

For sushi I would go to Takashi nice upper class place. Rice is somewhere I would take someone on a average date not something special even though the happy hour is BOMB!!

If you are not looking for sushi Tiburon in midvale is very nice as well with more traditional food(still not super traditional though LOL) . There are also a couple nice bistros on 100 south that I forget there name but would be nice.

Or Francs is always baller. I have never ate there cause have not found a girl that I would drop that kind of coin on for a dinner

I'm a broke cheap-ass and even I do better than McD's... Chilli's, Applebees, Friday's are more in my budget... "fancy" means Red Lobster or Olive Garden. I can cook a better steak at home than most restaurants can.

Which leads me to the next part... does she like red meat? If so get some buffalo steaks from Whole Foods and grill or broil those. Very tasty.

Yeah for me romantic wins mean effort not as much price. For a romantic meal back in the day I made up a back pack with champagne, grilled chicken, salad, chocolate covered strawberrys and brought my camp stove and some hot chocolate.... then took her off roading up to the top of the point of the mtn at night with a blanket where we could see both valleys. Cost me like 20 bucks and was a total win.

Just make something at home, play some nice music, turn the lights down, use candles, sit her down, put the food in front of her (already to go!) and ask if she wants wine, poor some wine, till her how much you love her, and lala!
