Talking New build completed.

Finally got my motor put together and running. I lost the block last May
and finally had the money and time to do it all now...

Stock subaru block, CP race pistons 99.75 with Eagle connecting rods
to a cryo treated crank. Stock heads with a lil work. Enduratech valve
train double springs and retainers, Kelford 264 cams.

Running the boost zero'd out and rev limiter set to 5k for break-in. Oil
pressure gauge went upto 110psi this morning on the way to work but
came back down to normal(meaning 90-100psi). I am pretty happy so
far with the break in process... stuck between rotated setup or that
new stock location turbo from amr... any suggestions on turbos? I am
looking between 400-500 wheel with this motor... no meth...

Thanx

yep... tuner said 1000 miles on break-in and try my best to not go into boost...
Lots of decceleration from 5k down... getting close to the 1000 miles now.
New issue... 05 STi's can go upto 850cc side feed injectors... 1300cc detchwerks
or another brand? don't think i'm gonna go with E85, maybe a race gas tune for
shyts and giggles... tryin to figure out which turbo to go for... turbo xs 35r rotated
kit or that stock location turbo from AMR... its like an 80 pound a minute turbo!!!

i thought you are suppose to go in boost around 4-5k rpm to seal the rings?

tuner said lots of on and off the throttle will help seal the rings... the engine scaling back rpms with throttle plate closed should help seal the rings. Boost will push them in which will take longer on the break-in from what i was told...

The rings will seat in the first 20 miles of driving with lots of vacuum. Once the bearings are broken in and oil pressure stabilizes you're good to go for a tune.

dave buschur iirc...he has the best break in procedure!!! all boost to seat the rings, I think on a small turbo like a vf39 you need at least almost 10lbs

if it's going to break, it will break...waiting for your car and in turn not seating the piston rings is stupid imho

i have a vf43 in there for break-in... the boost table is zero'd out but she still will make boost anyway... Rev limiter is set to 5k. Tuner told me to try my best to stay out of boost but if i have to... she has between 5-10lbs... i cruise in 5th gear and change the rpms from time to time but i haven't had any issues...

Man, I just sold a set of DW 950cc side feed injectors that would have been perfect for you.
If you plan on making close to 500whp you are going to need something like the UR 1260cc top feed conversion kit. I just purchased a set of these injectors and they look pretty cool. The kit comes with special rails and rings so that the injector sits directly on the empty TGV housing. I just got an awesome deal on these injectors from BigValleyPerformance.

Actually i got a message from Detchwerks and they are working on side feed 1000cc
injectors... Think i might hold out for a good size side feed system... Your running 1260cc's... sounds like your setup for E85 or is that just for regular driving? What turbo are you running?

Blast from the past! Finally got around to getting the STi tuned. VF43 is an ok turbo
for now but getting some change together for the GTX30R kit. She made 320 to the
wheels and 362ft lb of torque. This should hold me over til the new turbo comes in.
Pic of dyno graph from one of the last runs...
