Is there something wrong with my radiator?

My WRX is only 5 months old, and this is the first time i see this, my radiator (the top part, where the pop rod sits) is leaking, (for lack of a better word)... there is green stuff (prestone) all over the seams of the plastic cover on top of the radiator

... hope this makes sense...

also, there are splashes... small drops on the front of my engine, it looks as if the prestone hits the fan and gets splashed on the engine ... there aint much, but its enough for me to start wondering ...

any body can help me out ?

Unfortunately, many WRX radiators are cracking at the top... take a look in the Warranty forum here on IClub and you'll find quite a few with this problem. Some dealers take care of it right away, some drag their feet. Hope you get the former, not the latter

Yep, same thing happened to me. The core is leaking and it forms a puddle along the top of the radiator. Take it in, full warranty work.

Be thankful and take the opportunity er hem I mean use this as an excuse to buy yourself an aluminum radiator...It'll be usefull later when the mods begin to pile up.

I have had two new radiators put in my wrx under warranty.
Both leaked at the top.

I told the dealer the radiator cap was bad the first time I had it in, I could hardly get the cap off the center part was jamed down in the bottom of the opening.

They did not replace it = radiator number two, or would that be three?

They did the second time I had it in, no leak since.

another warranty repair, My dealer is going to start thinking im a car beater, yet i pamper this car like nothing in the world (and i drive it like a granny, (99% of the time)...

2nd tranny... now 2nd rad.... whats next ???

I think the Subie dealer in Concord cracked my radiator. It was fine, then I brought it in and the next day (same old commute) my engine temp was way at the top and steam was comming from under my hood - great feeling that. I was on a freeway overfly so there is no shoulder - by the time I got off the freeway and popped the hood I was down by 3/4 in the radiator - had to carry water until the dealer could see me - he fixed it and said his mechanic didn't do it...but when the big belly mechanic leaned over my car I distinctly heard a "crack" but I thought it was just the grill cowling or something else, I didn't see anything else loose.
