Question 02 2.5RS Engine Rod Knock

Hi All,
Man...it's been almost 2 years since I was last here. Anywho, I just got some bad news yesterday about a rod knock in my engine. I was told that I'd need to replace my block. Parts and labor are roughly $3500. I'm weighing the odds of selling it to someone wanting to build a project car and buying the parts to get it fixed. The car only has 116K miles and has accumulated only 20K the last 5 years. Anyone heard of this? Anyone know of any good places to get this work done or the parts?

Take care,

Jeremy

P.S. - Yes...I know there are other forums suited to technical stuff and parts but I wanted to get some regional advice.

just buy a new engine and drop it in yourself. lots cheaper. and a lot easier than you would think.

i just did mine, and once i got the right engine, i had it running in less than 24 hours. had no help from anybody that knew how to do it, other than a few phone calls to solid autoworks, and rallysport.

but you could probably do it faster than i did, because i had to do some things, because i swapped from a 2.2 to a 2.5.

and Metric Motors is a good place to look for an engine... kinda pricey... but that's where Noah at Solid told me to go.

Love those guys got my motor from there after I dropped a valve. They stand by there warrenty as well. I got my ej25d for 1500 idk what they charge for the SOHC motors but I bet its going to be a lot less that what you're looking at.

Wow...this does sound like a better option. I'll start looking around at Metric Motors. If anyone else has any specific person to speak with and/or any other places, let me know.
