Default EJ20tt from 95 legacy same long block as 04 wrx?

I have a 2004 wrx and have acess to a ej20tt from a legacy. If i were to strip the ej20tt down to a long block will all my 04 "intake and electronics" bolt up. i guess a more straight forward question is are the long blocks the same?

I have a 96 legacy EJ20R which is a twin turbo in a race car. Recently, I upgraded to an ECU from an '02 WRX. Heads and intake are definitely different, as are the sensors, cam pickups, IAC, Throttle body, ect. Basic block has two less tapped holes to transmission. Basically nothing is an easy fit, so to answer your question plainly, no, nothing is the same, but it can be made to work by swapping heads and all sensors, intake, etc...

Correct, they have different intake port configurations.

Well, apart from the thrust bearing location, the block HALVES are going to be almost the same.

You can use the motor if you go to a aftermarket ecu. Also if it is a jdm motor it will have higher compression as jdm had better fuel and could run higher compression.

why do you want a twin turbo block? the heads are different, the oil feed and return and water feed and returd are done quite differently. you could block off the ones you dont need and use it in your wrx. compression is 8.5:1 on those off the top of my head.
problem is its the earley TT engine. they are really bad, the later ones from late 96 to mid 98 are not to bad
