Default Re-assembly Question

When you guys go to reassemble the motor what do you do to purge the cooling system?
i couldnt find anywhere that its covered in the service manual

Fill the radiator first, then cap it. Fill the tank on the engine next. I use one of those funnels that attaches to the rad cap and let it run and blow all the air out then cap it. If you're working on an 02 with no cap on the radiator, fill the block through the upper hose or you will have a big air pocket.

I fill up the rad first, cap it, then fill up the upper reservoir. Once it's mostly full (not entirely full, or the next step will splash some out), I massage the upper rad hose to pump the coolant out of the upper res into the lines/engine to get the bubbles out (refilling the upper res as necessary).

I've done this probably 3-4 times on my car and have never had an air pocket.

i have an 02, so no res
