Default 2008 sti motor into 1998 2.5rs parts inquiry

Theres a wrecked, 2008 sti that is parting out, and would like to know what parts I would need to make it possible to work with my vehicle. If its even possible. Thanks.

1998 2.5rs currently running ej22t with ej20k heads with 6speed tranny.

Only reason why im changing my motor is for emissions. I require obdII readings to pass emissions. Any other advice would be nice too.

Would i need the gas peddle since its throttle by wire? Also do 2008 ecu's have immobilizer's? Are the keys chipped? Also the intercooler, would the 2008 intercooler have fitment issues because of the hood? Im trying to be cost efficient before purchasing everything that i need. Thanks.

the biggest issue is the rear hubs ...
with the 08+ you really need a complete swap due to the can bus
the ecu get gets the vss from an average of the abs sensors
so you need the correct signal from the rear hubs ...

the only successful swap i have seen with an 08+ sti is into an 09+ forester

^^^I've solved the problem of the missing VSS signal with my new VSSPro product. It goes between an abs sensor and the ecu and generates the correct VSS pulse. The VSSPro was actually just released on friday.

You can now swap any year tranny into the 2007 and older chassis!

cool product but it won't help with an 08+ ecu

the abs module needs the signals which it then passes across the can bus to the ecu

whats needed is a 2 channel signal processor that will produce 08+ waveforms from an older abs signal (05-07 sti rear hubs?).. although there is no published evidence on this...

anyone having success with these swaps yet?

I tried to ask a similar question and my post was locked. So lets try here.

There has to be someone that has put a 2008 and up swap into and older subaru.
