Default StudMike's 2013 SWP WRX Hatchback Journal

Welcome to my 2013 Satin Pearl White WRX Journal, this will be the place where I'll be updating once in a while with my modifications, reviews, and comments.

Little about myself, I got into the Subaru scheme back in 09 when I picked up my 2006 Impreza 2.5i in Aspen White, used it for autocrossing and was daily driven. Started to look into other cars after getting bored of the lack of power the 2.5i had, picked up a 07 Mazdaspeed3, loved the hell out of the car, had so much potentials. There was one thing that I surely missed.... the AWD. SO, how can I put my old 2.5i and Mazdaspeed3 together, a SWP WRX was ordered. The Impreza had the color, AWD, sexiness, huge variety of selections for modifications, the great community, the fun in winters, and was my favorite..... the Mazdaspeed3 has the turbo, the gforce, the interior space, loudness, bold design, and the most I miss about the Mazdaspeed3 is the torque steering, I LOVE it. The WRX has the Mazdaspeed3 pros and Impreza pros.

Onto the Journal, enjoy

Drove the car in the storm named Saturn in Chicago, I forgot how much fun the AWD brings, I borrowed a friend's 01 RS 6-spokes wheels, they do look skinny on the widebody!

Was looking to get the RS 6-spokes wheels for my winter set but after borrowing them, I changed my mind and am going to use the stocker 17s as my snow set, summer set has not been determined yet.

Crappy iPhone pictures of the RS 6-spokes on the WRX

Planning to get my tails done this weekend, not100% sure with which style I want to go. Got this picture off madtinter's facebook.

I'm leading to #1 or #2, #6 if #2 is too much. Thoughts anyone?

#2 is alittle too dark. The picture below's tint level is just about right.

I would only consider #1 or #2. #2 id pretty dark in my opinion so i would go with #1. I painted the tails on my silver hatch and i went with the style of #1

I picked up the WRX on March 1st and today I have 952 miles, doing the first oil change tomorrow and then the break in period is OVER.

As the days goes on, I'll be updating this journal as when I upgrade things on the WRX. I have no regrets so far with the WRX, I still have the my old MS3 which has been given to my girlfriend. The MS3 was one fun car.

The crazy weather has finally made me put my snows on, took them off the speed3 and put it on the WRX, I drive 45 miles daily on back roads so theyre not exactly treated all of the time. On to the picture, I think they look nice.

Why are you rushing to get rid of the good factory oil? Your 1st recommended oil change is at 3000 miles. Don't waste the good oil.

Also lets me know how the TP stage 1 tune compares to the OTS Stage 1 tune. I'm running Cobb OTS Stage 1 tune right now and have been considering TP.

It's recommend to change your oil at 1000 miles to get all of the break in oil out and put fresh oil in. It doesn't hurt to change it one extra time. The owner manual says to get oil changed at 3750 so I'll be getting it changed by then.

The TP stage 1 tune is WORTH it, I ran on the Cobb OTS tune for about 1300 miles and then got the TP tune in, the difference is noticeable. If you dont have any plans to go Stage 2 anytime soon, I'll say, go and get the TP tune in.

I will be sure to post up my review. I think the rear bushing is easier to install/get to than the front. I might just throw the SSK in tonight and then do the bushings on the weekend so I can see the differences between each. Either way, I will be sure to post my findings in my journal.

Awesome, wouldn't the front bushing be easier to install when you put in the shifter (doing it at the same time).

The rear bushing would require me to go under the car, thing will get interesting there ha. I'll check your journal tonight

Non-sense on the 1000 miles oil change. That's what the oil filter is for. It doesn't hurt to put in new oil but you're just wasting the high quality factory oil changing it that early. Though it's your car and your money. I was just saying

So you how long have you been running the TP tune? What kind of improvement did you feel from it? And did you get a custom tune or the TP OTS tune?

High quality factory oil? Haha, I dont think its that high I put a new high quality oil in anyways.

TP tune has been in for about 100 miles now, there was more power in the 3-5th gear compared to the Cobb tune. I got the OTS tune but Eric (TP tuner) will be tweaking the tune to fit in the conditions here, every car are different so if there's any tweaks needed, Eric will do it. I'll be updating the thread with my experiences with the TP tune after 500-1000 miles, from what I see, alot people love the TP tune.
