Yeah, I'm kind of on the fence. I do kind of like it. But winter's just around the corner, so I'll have plenty of time to decide if I want to keep them on next summer. Multiple polarizations on both of the whole car photos. Probably 4-5 shots in each. I posted in your thread.

Cant believe how much better a sticker makes the wheels look haha.

I also installed my Tomei ELH today on my car, 303whp, 320wtq so yes equal length headers are so good for our cars.

I generally do like the stickers on other wheels ans these aren't too flashy so I don't mind them.

What did your car do on the dynp before the header? How did the poweband change?

It was the first dyno for my car, other WRX's usually hit 270-280 and 300tq so everyone at my shop were ****ting their pants. My spool lowered by about 400rpms

I'm curious, how many cars pull up next to you thinking you're just widebody 2.5i with nice wheels only to get completely spanked off the line? Not that I'm encouraging any paltry street racing or anything .

Also, thanks to your advice, I'm currently running E85 and loving every second of it!

I'm not sure what it is, but I don't really get any interest from random people. I've only had the big exhaust on for a couple months and it hasn't been any different. Since getting the car two years ago I believe I have only had 4 spontaneous encounters.
  • Civic Si when I was stock (easy).
  • Evo with cams/E85 (I met him several months later and asked about his setup) when I was Stage 2 (he walked me).
  • 16G 2.0L WRX on pump when I was stock turbo + E85 (easy).
  • Lowered RSX (probably stock power) with my current turbo (easy).
So really only one poor person has rolled up next to me since I have done much of anything to my car. I'm not sure if people spot the FMIC and are scared off, or if they think I look too slow and aren't interested, lol. I would have to guess the second one.

Speaking of exhausts, I think I'm going to go back to the stock one for the winter. I'll probably be putting the snow tires on in a couple weeks, and I'll swap the exhaust then too. It will be nice to go back to something quiet. The Greddy is a nice exhaust, but it's loud. I was thinking of getting something else other than stock, but I'm not sure what. I'd want quad tips and relatively quiet.

I was thinking of picking up another SPT locally, but I think it's sold. My second choice was a MadDad Whisper, but I think that one sold too. The last one I was thinking of was the Nameless with the Magnaflow muffler, but I haven't seen any of those locally. Any other suggestions? Low-ish price is also a concern considering I probably would end up getting rid of it eventually, lol.

^ I tired the 5" Nameless with the stock mid and a invidia down... it registered ~85Db at cruise, in the drivers seat, windows up.

Q300 turbo back registered at ~80Db under the exact same conditions.

I tried to log both at WOT... but it's hard to look down when you hit 100+ in such a short time.

Nameless is not more quite at all- just a different tone. The welds weren't that good either, and fitment was -meh- (couldn't get the tips straight). Their customer support was amazing tho, and said they would re-bend the hangers for me if I asked. And I LOVED the clearance it bought me, so tight and snug to the underbody compared to my Q300. Still, had to go back to the Q300 to let my WG properly vent, and the TI tips are hawt (according the the gf).

Stock (with the invidia dp) registers ~73Db.

You find a quite 3" axle/mid combo that's under 800$, let me know. I'm thinking of looking at the Maddad....

Thanks for the info! But those are the 5" mufflers. I would expect that to be much, much louder than a full suitcase style muffler (ie. stock, Q300, or Nameless with Magnaflow muffler). Those little mufflers are probably just as loud as the Greddy that I have now.

I think I should have jumped on the MadDad that was for sale locally. It seems like a good option. But right now I'm still leaning towards the Nameless with Magnaflow as being the quietest aftermarket quad tip exhaust. Plus I like the look. I just wish the midpipe was cheaper. $400 for a pipe seems like a bit much...

Not trying to threadjack xluben here, but what were the issues you had with WG venting on the stock or stock+axleback that the Q300 helped? Just improved spool and topend? Cause I have noticed something similar when I went back to the stocker.

Xluben, I vote you try the Maddad. From the videos it appears to be even quieter than the Q300, but I haven't heard one in person. And when I first installed my torque solution, or whatever it is, pitchstop, I noticed the starter noise as well. I did the trans mount the same day, but I imagine the pitch is what caused the noise.

I'd have to guess that he's referring to a reduction in boost creep with the Q300. But from what I've seen, I find this very unlikely. I would think that the downpipe and even the weather would have a much greater affect. I guess it's possible though. But it wouldn't help spool at all, just boost control.

Well, I missed the boat on the used Maddad, and I'm not paying the new price. Oh well, I guess I'm back to stock for a while. The noises from the mounts are considerably reduced after driving around a while. The starter noise is still there, but not as obvious.

With my 20GXTR, I actually threw a CEL with the stock mid-pipe- a couple of times (ouch). No problems with the Q300, so I have to assume it was because there was too much back pressure with the stock mid for the waste gate to vent enough the exhaust.

Here is one of those welds I was talking about:

Ben... the only other exhaust I see on Nameless's sight is this one:

http://shop.namelessperformance.com/...-back-exhaust/

Which doesn't look much quieter, although probably some.

Just slap it on there so it's not blocking the wastegate arm and then wrap the wire around underneath. I did sort of an "X" pattern and it seems to be holding fine. I didn't remove anything to install it, so it probably isn't the best.

You threw the overboost CEL? I'd be willing to bet that had more to do with weather and other factors, but it is possible that an exhaust could have a slight impact. If you're on the stock internal wastegate with the 20GXTR I'm surprised you're able to control boost at all. Mine overboosted uncontrollably once it got cold out, so I had to go to an EWG.

That weld doesn't look too pretty. On the Nameless page you linked there are 4 options, muffler delete, 4" mufflers, 5" mufflers, and the large Magnaflow muffler. The Magnaflow is the one they originally released. It is known to be very quiet. Quite a few people got it and were very disappointed in the lack of sound. Here are some photos of the muffler:

Little spendy though.
Also the 5" in drones? Lol no way I have multiple friends with it... The car has to be dead silent for you to hear anything when cruising/idle

Numbers don't lie. No point in arguing.

Over boost CEL occurred on two different days, both in the mid 60s with nominal humidity/pressure going about 100 in 4th. I've made the same pulls with the same conditions and gas with the Q300 without issue, both before and after the Nameless. Can't isolate the issue much more than that.

I'm running 21.5 psi on 93 and substantially less power than you, I'd expect the WG to handle my set up all day every day. That, or Blouche shouldn't sell the turbo at all.

It's a shame the Nameless mid costs a full arm and leg, or I'd be keeping it.

I've found that actual decibel levels often have very little to do with how we perceive sound (such as drone). Often the frequency matters much, much more. I don't really put much value on decibel readings when it comes to exhausts. That being said, drone is very subjective. You really need to hear it in person to know for sure.

The less boost you're running, the more work your wastegate has to do. I ran 22psi fine for a month or two with the internal wastegate, but once it got down below freezing it would creep up to 25+ psi. I even connected the compressor nipple directly to the wastegate actuator and it still crept that much.

I had the same issue with the stock turbo. I was using a cold air intake and catless downpipe (for both turbos). With the stock airbox I didn't have creep issues. I found that the more free flowing your setup (intake and exhaust) the more likely you are to see creep. This makes sense with what COBB has published about free flowing, catless downpipes causing boost creep issues.

That theory tells me the Nameless actually flows better than the Q300...

Don't knock Nameless for a weld they didn't perform. I'm assuming you're pointing out the weld on the chrome Y-pipe. That piece is sourced, not fabbed in house. Not saying that its a good weld, but you seem to be bashing on NP a bit unnecessarily. Their workmanship is extremely good and they try their best to find high quality tips and whatnot, but as you may know they've even started making their own.

To not make this a complete threadjack, I'd recommend the Nameless. As you know Ben, I have the Magnaflow (OG) version and it has worked very well for 1.5 years now. Sometimes I do crave more volume, but in general is it very, very nice, especially as the muffler broke in. Took it off a few weeks ago when I tried the GReddy, with about an hour or two's worth of polishing I restored the exhausts' finish, looks great still. Buy the KB hangers and fitment is 100% on point.

...you're certainly right. I ran a FFT on the wave forms as well (at idle, so it shifts a bit at cruise), and the nameless was a bit higher tone (maybe 100-300Hz on average), but not enough that the Db levels couldn't be compared with each other.

That's certainly possible, though at first glance of the physical characteristics not very sensical. I'd love to go back to the Nameless. All I know... no CEL without it. I have a road-tune in the works, maybe that will correct everything to the degree that the Nameless is happy again.

Either way, I'd expect the WG to be sufficient for my run-of-the-mill setup.

Me too, they guys were great on the phone and 100% willing to support their product. I didn't know they outsourced the y's. too bad they don't look better, as Nameless is responsible for it at the end of the day.

Sorry for the (now) official thread jack, it's been a slow day at work.

How about you mount a db reader that records engine break exhaust noise. Q300 will loose. It's a boomzilla for under 3,000 rpm

Actually edit xluben said it best
