Random question, how do you like the AEM intake? I've been fully planning on getting the Cobb, but someone was telling me about how the AEM is a better design etc. Any thoughts?
How loud is it? I've heard alot about how loud the Cobb is, do you know if the AEM is the same way?

Helical is like stock. It usually is pretty quiet. The straight cut ones are the loud ones!

I liked the AEM. It looks like a solid design. The MAF scaling seems to work well and the location in the fender, with the use of the heat shield should give you the coldest air possible.

The COBB with their box also looks decent, but I think it would be more likely to get hot due to engine heat. The COBB is fairly loud. The AEM is definitely louder than stock, but not as loud as the COBB.

^^ Liked the AEM... are you on to something else now? I don't mind the whine of the COBB (mine doesn't kick in till later anyway), and the engine heat is only a problem at stops.

That is really lame that you have to cut the Fuji. Just get a big box!
5" Nameless. Hopefully I get my downpipe back tonight and the SPT will go on, I'll let you know then.

Cutting Fujis is fun! Seriously tho... flanges are cheap and welding is easy. I can't understand why they built it one piece. It can't change the tone THAT much.

I was maxing out the MAF with the AEM. The stock sized intakes are only good for around 400WHP I believe. Now I have a KSTech 73mm. It's basically the same as the AEM, but larger diameter. It also has the option for a heat shield that is precut to work with the FMIC piping.

Ah yes, the 5" mufflers that Nameless says are somewhat quiet, but from most accounts I've heard they are pretty loud. I'm curious to know how the Nameless w/Magnaflow compares to the SPT.

IMO flanges are lame. They really only help in making shipping easier, and they open up the possibility for all sorts of problems if they're not done right. I have no problem installing an exhaust as one piece, so I'd much rather have one in one piece. Not that it really matters if it has proper flanges and gaskets though. You could do v-band if your doing a custom job anyways?

Yep. I have no need for it other than to toy around with speed density, but right now I don't need it. MAF seems to be working fine with this setup.

Yeah, the FFS and LC are much more common on the AP. tinywrx has had a patch available for open source for quite some time, but the maps changed for 2011, so it took him a while to figure it out properly. I think I was one of the first that he actually got it to work on.

I've tried to look for the patch online but it seems his page has been shut down. You know any other way to get it Ben? And in your opinion, how does the APs launch control and FFS compare to Tinywrexs patch?? Are both pretty much the same or is one better than the other in anyway? I ask as I used to have an AP but sold it to go opensource, curious to how well this patch works.

Looks like the site working fine for me. Here are the two options for the 2011.

As far as I know it functions the same as the AP, but I've never tried the AP.

They're both good but the new one does appear to be better. See here.

Thanks! I agree, it does look great. Seems really nice, even compared to the old one. Smelled a little on the first drive, but by the end of the day today it was all back to normal.

Finished up another flip key tonight:
