I figured it out on the way home. After the swap to 6MT you'll post another pic at 60, with lower RPMs. I bet you'll even take the after pic on the same stretch of road you took the before on.

Yeah, it wasn't too long. I think it's been about 10 months and 10,000 miles. BUT I bought the whole clutch setup used so it already had some miles on it. Puck style clutches generally wear pretty quickly anyways.

If you're looking for RPF1's. I contacted the guys at LSD motorsports. They stock a lot of 5x100 fitments. They quoted some black 17x9's around $230 a wheel. Call them direct to get pricing lower than the ebay ads.

Or this group buy looks good if you want 17x9.5

I was assuming you went and bought a new trans (judging by our previous conversations). Looks like a spec b 6th gear from how much lower your RPMs are at 60 (i tested what my car ran at 60 this morning lol). Your car is running 200 rpms lower than what it would with the 5 spd 5th gear (2400 RPMs).

Did you do what you suggested to me and swap out the 5th and 6th gear into a 07 STI trans (for the longer ratios)? Or did you shell out the cash for a brand new spec b trans?
Did you upgrade to the r180 rear end and all other supporting mods?

Either way you shaved off a whole 200 rpms which in the long run nets you better fuel economy so long as you didnt pack too much weight on to the car. compared to the 5 spd how much does your drivetrain weigh and can you tell the difference in how the car performs because of the change in weight?

I would love to hear all of the specifics in PMs if thats cool.

I had the HD and 4 puck sprung before. It was working fine, but I figured I'd go with the XT for some added strength and the unsprung discs are much lighter than sprung (around 1/2), so it will be a lot easier on the synchros. So far I'm actually thinking the unsprung is easier to drive. It bites like crazy, so it's really easy to stall, but it doesn't chatter like the sprung puck clutch. The XT pressure plate feels much heavier on the pedal.

You're kind of right on the second part.

I think they always do gold ones in their special order sizes (sizes that I'd want). I'm looking to get silver like Dezod does for their specials.

The new tranny is about 80lbs heavier than the old one. It's hard to compare changes in feel because the gearing is different, but so far I have nothing negative to say. I'll be making a full post in the Tranny section sometime soon. I'll have all the details there.

I have the xtreme pressure plate as well but with a full face disk.

I you are running a 08 sti + tranny. Have you install the dccd vsspro? was it difficult? I am still running with no speedo with 2011 6-speed

What happened with that 5 speed? I thought you were against doing a 6spd for a long time? For security because you are itching for more power again?

The full face disk slipped the first day with the HD PP so I didn't want to risk it.

The newer WRX has the speed sensor in the ABS (like the STI) so everything is working fine.
