HI MAN!

I live about 15 minutes from Luskville I'm supposed to go with a buddy tomorrow... dunno when.

Ok, so... how do you launch? Dump, quick slip or heavy slip?
What RPM do you launch it at? How do you shift? Like you stole it or just kinda fast because you're scared of breaking something?

When you say stock, do you have the BBS upgrade or not? (some still consider it stock because it comes like that from the dealer...)

Do take into account that it was 30 degrees today man, so it was to be expected to have ****ty times...

How many miles on the car? SSSSOOOO many questions hehehe, if you're not already on it, you should register on Redliners.ca, regional board with lotsa smack We're about 4-5 WRXs on there!

Hey ! on your way to Luskville Stop at my Store, Depanneur Eardley, it's on the right and side of the highway 148 just outsite of Aylmer give me a call if you want to 684-0911. it's a small world after all !

My Scooby has only 1700km on it and when I said stock it's stock no BBS weels on it. I lauch at 4-5000 RPM and shift at the redline... all the way to the end in 3th gear.

aaaahhhh, I remember stoping there a couple of times while going to Luskville!

Well, considering that you SHOULD be in your break-in period and the car is very young, you're definitely not getting the best out of it YET. Mine's got just over 20000km and I remember that she wasn't as quick as now at first...

I launch at 4500 dead on and I QUICKLY slip the clutch, not a dump but close; the tires chirp for about 1/2 second... 14.38 on a 20-22 degree day, then I shift like I was trying to break the stick!

If rain holds (like it's SUPPOSED to until late afternoon) I'll drop by for sure!

Until you get your 60' times down to 1.80's range your 1/8 mile times and 1/4 mile times are going to be slow.
5K drop clutch launch. Drop the clutch and floor it at the same time. Garenteed 1.80s every time. I've made at least 75+ drop clutch launches with my WRX and it still runs like new. My car is also modded so don't be afraid to do it.

With a WRX the first 60' is were a good or bad run is made.

Practice makes perfect.

SO true. It'll take MUCH more than 1700km to get used to launching... but it's all in good fun!

i have a timeslip almost identical to yours....15.06 at 91 mph .....the best of 4 runs i made last november....bear in mind, i've never drag raced before in my life.....trust what everyone else has said....it's all in the launch! raise tire pressure if your not getting any wheelspin...some guys are running 40+ psi depending on track surface conditions....the track i was at was really sticky and i never got any wheelspin...thus the dreaded bog down!

you can improve so much more!!
i did 14.3@93.7 in my stock impreza and thats with a 1.97 60ft (should be lower)
learn how to do a decent drag launch.
from what i've experimented with (since i'm too afraid to dump) is rev up and down between 4 and 5k, then slip the clutch for a second then let it ride. just holding revs at like 4k caused me to bog...with the revving i was boosting very quickly off the line

Well my friend in his WRX slipped the clutch at 7000rpm got a 1.71 60' time he ran perfect untill he hit 3rd gear is where he blew the tranny and ran a 18.8@54mph sad, it just got stuck in 3rd gear. Im sure he could of got a 14.1 STOCK because he got a 14.7 with a 2.1 60' time-his very first run. But he killed the car from street launching likr a couple 7000 drops

I love messing with people at the track who think RT matters.. Sometimes you'll overhear the guy's buddies giving him tips on how to cut the light and you just KNOW he's going to be itching off of the line. I'll just sit there and bring my boost up gradually and stand on the brake, the light turns green, and I give it more boost until the rears start to spin and just roll through, 5 or 6 seconds after the other dude took off. I catch up but he "just beats me" over the line and he's all excited that his 90 hp civic on nawwwz just beat a Grand National. Then he gets ALL confused that the slip says I ran a 12 compared to his 16, hehe.

Hum... you might want to point out that it doesn't matter on TIME TRIALS!

'cause if you don't care about reaction time in bracket racing, you'll be thrown out in first round!!

Obviously. But the fact still remains it has no bearing on your time. You may lose the bracket race, but you will run the same ET.
