Default some jerk rearended me and tried to run, now Im effed

I was stopped for a fire truck (for several minutes) and some guy hit my car and tried to run. He zigzagged for a few blocks and then pulled in to a parkinglot to check what was dragging on his car. Luckily the guy behind him chased him (I was hurt so I was slow) and pulled in behind him in the lot. We exchanged insurance info but now it looks like he gave me the wrong info. I went to the ER before getting the police so they dont give a truck. I wouldnt have been so hurt except that I was leaning forward and turned in my seat, getting ready to reenter traffic.

ithurtsithurtsithurtseffinsonofabeachithurtsithurt s

I'm sure theres a dirty joke to be made out of the title of the thread, but I hit my head and cant think.

Anyone have anything useful or amusing to say?

Hope ya feel better soon

Didn't have a phone, took a couple of pics with my nice camera (while wandering around dazed holding my head). I have the plate (ABZ8970) and a witness and had a passenger, but what good does that do me? The insurance info is for a 60y/o woman, not the big hairy smelly guy that hit me. The insurance info I got is borked - the insurance broker says the car is insured to Freda Wilson (the name the guy gave me) but the insurance carrier say it isn't although two other cars are. The local PD says its none of their business.

I got sick to my stomach, really shoulda barfed on they guy (and into his radiator) when I had a chance.

Got a great haul of meds from the ER, just wished they worked better, having kidney stones involves less discomfort.

the PD says a hit and run with someone giving fraudulent info is none of their business? are we missing a whole lot of information here?

the guy hit you and ran away, then gave you false info. the cops should at least be interested in this.

The dude fled the scene of an accident, and had to be chased. He also provided false information, and you have at least one witness. Plus, there was an injury.

Are there hoardes of serial killers in your area or something? Because it seems odd the police don't give a damn. All you really need is the plate number, because the owner of the car will be responsible for your injuries. You could sue him/her, and i'm sure that person's real insurance company will surface, if there is one.

Yeah, sure wish the cops wanted to get involved. I talked to them twice. Dunno if I should try state patrol - it happened on a city street that is also a state highway.

The police said let my uninsured/underinsured insurance kick in or let my insurance co find the guy.

Last time I pull over for a firetruck.

Not to be mean or anything, but the thought," 20 yard dash in the Special Olympics" comes to mind.

Id be getting a recording of your local PD saying they don't want to hear it, then forwarding it on up the chain as far as it needs to go before someone reacts. Squeaky wheels gets the insurance payout and justice it deserves.

sucks to sue an old lady, but she most likely has insurance, so dont feel too bad.

From what i gather though the old lady isnt who hit him

I think what he is saying is the real owner of the car wasnt driving(and likely didnt have permission or wouldnt have fled, or giving false info)

Personally i would be looking to a higher up in the police dept to talk to. I find it ridiculously hard to believe they arent interested even a little bit.

I'm pretty sure the PDs argument that "if you have to get medical treatment for being in a wreck you can't file a police report afterwards" is not dept. policy.

Go talk to someone in charge. File a hit and run complaint on that license plate number with a decrypting of the driver. Frankly, if they stopped later only to give you false info, they still ran from the wreck. The whole point of stopping is to ensure the responsible party is held culpable.

The cops said that unless they were called to the scene they cant/wont do much. My insurance doesnt seem at all surprised by this.

The cops were plenty friendly and sympathetic the couple of times we talked - they just werent at all helpful.

File a report. Even if they don't do anything proactive, start a paper trail. Plus, when they pick that guy up on meth charges, they can ring him up for this too.

Also, it'll be helpful when the insurance companies battle it out if there's a police report filed where you state the hit and run occured.
