Default 05 rack w/ 2.5rs column

I dont wanna buy a freaking column. Before anyone asks why dont i just bolt up the old rack is bc it wouldnt fit. it was different. so how can i fix this?

When I did it, I just modified my steering column by welding the newer splines (from a donor column) onto the steering rack then using the newer u-joint and rack. It will be tough to do without a lathe and TIG welder but once you do it, you will be able to buy replacement parts for the newer system, but maintain the older steering column. When I did it, I looked at using a newer style steering column, and it wasn't going to be a bolt-in situation so I decided to go the custom route.

thats a nice welding job and good idea, but I dont have either the new coupler or new column. so any other ideas. now that my headache is gone I was thinkn about a jdm crossmember. That way i might be able to use the rs rack. but that leaves the lines in question. Would I be able to use the lines from an 05 to connect the rack to the pump?
