I'm thinking ascot.
Neckerchief would be my second guess, but they're tied like this:

Also America's most famous example.

Looks like turntable has it. From Wikipedia:

Quote:
An ascot tie, or ascot, is a narrow neckband with wide pointed wings, traditionally made of pale grey patterned silk. This wide, formal tie is usually patterned, folded over, and fastened with a stickpin or tie tack.
Quote:
A neckerchief, necker or scarf is a type of neckwear associated with Scouts, cowboys and sailors. It consists of a triangular piece of cloth or a rectangular piece folded into a triangle.

I'm not ashamed to admit I have like 5 of those scarfs.^

they are nice in the winter time, and I prefer them to ordinary scarfs.

What's funny about shemaghs is the wearer is always one of the following three:

1. Hipster douchebag who is trying to show solidarity with the Palestinians.

2. Mall ninja douchebag who is trying to look operator.

3. Actual operator who gargles live grenades, has an epic beard, and can hit a douchebag from 1.5 miles away with a .50 cal rifle, standing, while having sex with a supermodel.
